Foreign Minister Abdullah Gül late Sunday said the outlawed Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK) terrorists are using weapons given to the Iraqi army by the united States and European countries.

Turkey last week officially asked the U.S. regarding the validity of claims that the weapons the PKK uses against Turkey was supplied by U.S. troops in Iraq. The United States denied such reports but said Turkey's claims will be investigated.

“We have no evidence on that,” Gül said during an interview with the Kanal A late Sunday. Noting that Iraq is in chaos and supplied with weapons by the U.S. and European countries Gül said they have proven that some weapons that are used by the PKK are U.S. and European.

“If the claims are verified our relations will be totally disheveled. We're investigating. They have recognized them as terror organizations, they have captured the leader of the terrorists and handed him to us. It will not be wise for them to supply terrorists with weapons.”
