PATIENCE ATUHAIRWE

Pastor Kojo Nana Obiri Yeboah insists that the gadget many claim is a devise used to dupe unsuspecting Christians is just a toy and strongly believes that those insinuating otherwise are seeking to tarnish his name and ministry

Reverend Kojo Nana Obiri Yeboah is chauffeured into his huge compound in a Toyota Corona that has seen better days. One cannot help but notice a brand new-looking Surf packed in front of the garage though. Donned in a black outfit, the slightly tall, dark and plump pastor walks towards the press with a bow, staring at the ground looking like the very troubled man he is. Suddenly, as he approaches us, he wears a wide grin as he shakes hands with different people.

"Hullo, God bless you," he says. With us are a few members of his congregation, some church elders and co-pastors. On his compound (a huge piece of land) stands a double-storied mansion on one side and a giant tent on the other, the latter of which houses his congregation at service time.

It is at this very home on Sir Apollo Kagwa Road, Old Kampala, that the pastor received curious calls from several members of his congregation on the morning of July 6, seeking an explanation on strange press reports.

The reports were that pastor Kojo had been arrested by the police for possession of an electronic gadget which he was using to 'perform miracles'. As per the press reports, the pastor used the gadget to electrocute believers by making them fall, as he 'exorcised them of demons'.
