Nuclear risks: Why Japan relies on nuclear power despite being in an earthquake zone
Japanese fears over nuclear power

As Japan admits that radioactive material leaked from a nuclear power plant during Monday's powerful earthquake, the former BBC Tokyo correspondent Jonathan Head looks at why Japan has stuck with nuclear power despite the risks.

Japan is the only country to have suffered a full-scale nuclear attack, and the only country to have suffered massive casualties from radioactive fallout.

It seems odd, then, that it is so addicted to nuclear energy, operating more reactors than any other country after the United States and France.

And it seems especially odd in view of the country's vulnerability to natural disasters like earthquakes.

The BBC analysis continues at http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/asia-pacific/6903146.stm

1. If that article is an "Analysis" pigs can fly.
The article analyzes nothing and gives no useful facts.

Why does Japan rely so heavily on nuclear energy for power production? Fuel availability, lack of emissions, public safety (Yes, nuclear plants have proved to be safe), and efficiency might have been areas the article could have looked into but instead all it did was present specious arguments.

2. The BBC had it listed under "Features, News, Analysis"
I get tired of writing the same, "The article continues."

3. You didn't say the "article" continues. You said the "analysis" continues
And I did in fact read it. Its garbage, the sort of shit you'd find as a filler in a newspaper that hadn't sold enough advertising for the day. Just something to fill up space and contribute nothing.
