The Food Fight: Omnivores vs Evangelical Vegetarians
I posted this elsewhere, but liked it so much I decided to give it it's own thread.


Omnivore says:

"Oh man, I had the best prime rib of my life last night."

Evangelical Vegetarian hears:

"I personally chopped down an acre of Brazilian rain forest."




Evangelical Vegetarian says:

"Cows are responsible for methane and therefor global warming."


Omnivore hears:

"All cows must die and no more dairy or beef products again. Ever."

Could you draw me a picture of such? A little exercise in demography? Because outside of DU, I don't see many meat eaters ever have to defend themselves.

When I look in the cooking forum, I don't see too much macho. Actually, when I look there I see vegetarians and meaties getting along quite well.

8. I know one, boy do I know one.
He's the epitome of the macho meat eater - he's put on guard by anyone's vegetarianism. But he is "outside of DU."

Took it upon himself to inform/lecture a mutual vegetarian friend that people who didn't eat meat were sick .

You know the kind - he also voted for Bush, twice.

10. Oh, they are here, all right.
They're the ones who say our teeth are designed for meat eating (they're not, that's why we have to butcher and cook the stuff) and go on endlessly about parallels in the animal world (we aint that kinda animal).

Personally, I don't give a rip what anybody eats. Some people feel lousy when they try a vegetarian diet and some people feel lousy when they eat meat.

The evangelists on both sides annoy the crap out of me.

And if anyone is insulted by this, realize that in its original form it is an insult as well, but somehow since Gandhi is supposed to have said it, it is sacred.
