Flynt Hint: says he has "solid leads" on an '08 candidate...
And since he's hot on the trail of self-righteous, moralizing hypocrites... who could it be?

http://news.cincypost.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20070719/EDIT/707190302/1003

I talked to Flynt shortly after last week's announcement. I wondered if he is bitter that Vitter had beaten him to the announcement. "Listen," he said, "we're going to have a field day with all the new material we've collected."

"I have never had so many promising leads from an ad," he told me. "The results have shocked a cynical old fellow like myself."

<snip>

In terms of partisanship, he was also quite blunt. "I cut nobody no slack: I let the chips fall where they may," he said.

Finally I asked Flynt a question burning in the minds of so many D.C. insiders. Would he be willing to say, for the record, whether or not he had any solid leads on '08 presidential candidates.

He chuckled, "We definitely do."

I HOPE it's this guy:

Why would Flynt go after Giuliani? As mayor of NYC, Rudy launched a jihad on pornographers/pornography/sex clubs and sex-oriented businesses:

http://race42008.com/2007/07/18/2742/

Here’s part of a 1994 New York Times Article:

“City Council members yesterday agreed to Mayor Rudolph W. Giuliani’s plan for a one-year moratorium on opening or expanding any sex-oriented video store, theater or bar. … Norman Siegel, executive director of the New York Civil Liberties Union, said the moratorium was a violation of the First Amendment, and added that he expected his group would file a suit against the city on behalf of the adult-entertainment businesses.”

In 2001, The New York daily News reported:

Mayor Giuliani revived his crusade to crush smut shops and X-rated clubs yesterday - vowing to seal a loophole in a 1990s law that failed to slow the topless dancing and porno video trades in many neighborhoods. … The mayor said his proposal would let city inspectors take into account other factors - such as the prominence of sex-related items - when deciding whether to shut an establishment. The proposal also would require owners to place partitions between the adult and non-adult portions of their businesses - helping to end “sham efforts” to sidestep the law, Giuliani said.”

The New York Daily News also reported in 2001:

“Mayor Giuliani’s tough new zoning restrictions on sex shops drew mostly yelps of protest yesterday at their first public airing at City Hall. The complaints came from a parade of lawyers for X-rated businesses, the New York Civil Liberties Union … the proposed new restrictions, which are aimed at tightening the definition of adult establishments subject to the much-litigated 1995 zoning law. Eliminated would be the so-called 60-40 loophole that allowed scores of sex-related businesses to stay open by devoting at least 60% of their inventory or floor space to nonadult material or activities. The proposed new rules would empower the city Buildings Department commissioner to use customer activity and volume of sales, along with physical features, to impose the zoning restrictions.”

I don't know whether that means it's less likely or not.

Clearly, Rudy has little, if any inhibitions about just about anything. He's an immoral phony with no self-discipline.

We're not the "Family Values" moralzing crowd.

But talking to Flynt, one quickly sees that this is in no way a game for this man. This is a moral issue. Say what you will about Flynt's business, his ethics on the subject are pretty clear. Hypocrisy, Flynt explained, was the cross from misdemeanor to felony in his mind.

"I couldn't care less what people do in private," he said, "but if someone's a public figure, and taking a position that's contrary to the way they lead their private lives, people deserve to know."

28. I gotta think its...
John McCain...here's why.

Remember in 2000 there was a whispering campaign in South Carolina as to whether it would change your opinion of John McCain if you knew he had an illegitimate child? This baseless push poll most certainly DID come from the Bushies as they were getting ready to be trounced. But it does make you wonder if there was something behind it in light of this scandal...

Just say'n...

(There have been rumors on various LGBT gossip lists about Hillary being bisexual or lesbian for many years, but not a single potential partner name has surfaced. The National Enquirer mention of Vince Foster doesn't count because he's in no position to sue their asses off.)

The Didee has done hit the fans I'd say. SEX sells and the GOPers know it's their turn over the barrel this time. They have lost the WAR, the congress, the National Security expert image, the tax and spend argument, the nation building argument, the states rights argument, the compassionate conservative argument, and NOW the "MORAL high ground," mojo...Bush at 24%...Cheney prolly below 10% now.

The democrats gave the GOPers all the rope they needed to hang themselves and now Larry Flynt is getting ready to kick the chair out from under them! The same chair they once kicked out from under Bill Clinton...who says there's no justice left in America?

Hollywood hoping to make it in the movies. That's my take on it anyway. You know how conservatives are always complaining about how decadent Hollywood is? Well apparently Fred has gotten a good view from the trenches.

So he could easliy be a client.

But I think the reason he's not running yet so he can fulfill his Law & Order committments. NBC would have to shelve any episodes or reruns after he officially announces, or be obligated to give other candidates 'equal time'. Once the Summer TV season is over, he will probably announce. I think he's letting NBC finish out their already-scheduled shows.

52. what if... it's a SENATOR who is ALSO an '08 candidate?
Didn't Flynt hint that another Senator was in his crosshairs? So...

That could be Senators Brownback, McCain, Clinton, Biden, Dodd and Obama... of that group, I'd say Brownback is Flynt's likely target.

and it would be fairly useless information as both have acknowledged adultery...

Thompson or Romney would be politically helpful...

Just sayin...

66. How About Duncan Hunter? Of course Flynt better hurry, he might be indicted first....
Early on in the Cunningham investigation and sentencing I think Hunter's name came up as being connected to both the Dukestir and Jack Abramoff.

He is definitely a second tier Repub candidate, but he might be a likely choice.

75. For maximum impact, wait for the candidate to get the nomination.
Wait until it is too late to change a state's ballot.

102. That would put the party in a very tight spot. They would have to deal
with laws of the various states dealing with candidates being allowed on the ballot. Remember one state had a question about if bush should even be on the ballot because he wasn't nominated before the deadline for inclusion on the ballot. I think it was Missouri. Not sure.

84. Rudy had prostate cancer -- may not be "up" to it
not saying he wasn't naughty before he got the cancer, though.

Anyway, Rudy's been upfront about his hanky panky so he wouldn't be a surprise to Flynt at all.

90. Tommy Thompson's affairs are "common knowledge" in WI
Wisconsin Democrats and reporters have just never thought it was right to use it against him.

Here's a post from the forum linked below, representative of what I've heard in Wisconsin many times over many years:

"I am a lifelong resident of Wisconsin (except for 10 years in school and military service). I have a close friend who was a legislative aide in Wisconsin (State Senate) for about 20 years, which spanned the time Thompson was governor. He told me numerous times over those years that it was common knowledge in Madison political circles that Thompson had extra-marital relationships - of the sexual variety.

My friend and I are Democrats and I asked him why they never used it against him. He said that the Democrats considered that to be cheap, gutter politics that they did not want to lower themselves to. Thompson, even though he was a dishonest partisan in most matters, at least wasn’t such a hypocrite that he would make a big deal accusing Democrats of not having “family values.” He knew, I’m sure, that if he did, his own behavior would see the light of day, too."
