World must keep Mandela's legacy alive: Clinton

JOHANNESBURG (AFP) - South Africa and the world must strive to uphold Nelson Mandela's legacy as a peacemaker as the anti-apartheid icon enters his dotage, former US president Bill Clinton said on Thursday.

"I think it is important that people in South Africa and all parts of the world ... live by the Mandela legacy," Clinton said at the launch of a new exhibition on the struggle against whites-only rule called "Making Peace".

Clinton, who led Mandela by hand into the packed Nelson Mandela Foundation auditorium, said the first black president of South Africa was both a friend and source of inspiration for his own charity work which will also take him to Malawi, Zambia and Tanzania after his trip to Johannesburg.

The former US president, who left office in 2001, identified three issues that were the major challenges facing the world: terrorism and violence, sustainability and climate change, and inequality.

God Bless President Clinton for the work he is continuing to do in Africa via his foundation.

2. A truly great man indeed. And even those words don't seem adequate enough
Mr. Mandela has given this world so much.

And yes they mentioned on ABC News that President Clinton has made it a point to visit Mr. Mandela on his birthday these past fews years.
