The head of the Army has issued a dire warning that Britain has almost run out of troops to defend the country or fight abroad, a secret document obtained by the Daily Telegraph has revealed.

Gen Sir Richard Dannatt has told senior commanders that reinforcements for emergencies or for operations in Iraq or Afghanistan are "now almost non-existent".

In the memorandum to fellow defence leaders, the Chief of the General Staff (CGS) confessed that "we now have almost no capability to react to the unexpected".

The "undermanned" Army now has all its units committed to either training for war in Iraq and Afghanistan, on leave or on operations.

There is just one battalion of 500 troops, called the Spearhead Lead Element, available to be used in an emergency, such as a major domestic terrorist attack or a rapid deployment overseas.

Maybe the country does not want to do this army stuff for ever. Why any one in the world does not just wait until we do it is beyond me. I am sure some big wig will make money having us be the military for the Brits also. The one thing we are number one in. Spending money for arms.

raping the treasury that our future sons and daughters will be saddled with on top of what they themselves might need. On this alone our system sucks.

I do think there is little more to life than the profits on making arms but I may be off the mark Having guns and stuff like that really does seem to turn on a lot of men in power. Also a lot not in power. I wonder if it is not our nature to like to kill and blow things up and, to make the deal sweeter, to make a profit doing it?

or damn sure should be. Our Soldiers are being extended and extended again as if, if they didn't get killed the first time well lets see how you do this time, I would be very mad right now if I was one of them having their tours extended over and over. this is bullshit what is happening
