is barking.

Interesting stuff.

Technological harassment and invasion is just oh so difficult to trace and/or determine.

However my dog seems to be quite keen to it all.

A call out to anyone else who may being hassled by Bush/Homeland Security for any slight reason which may include daring to perhaps oppose these rather abhorent policies by this Administration.......

in reality who can believe what they say these days?

My philosophy is information is power.

other than that, please ignore.....

16. I always thought paranoids must have huge egos.
The amount of time, effort, and expense the government goes through to mess with them. It must be an exciting life to think they are that important.

22. A close relative is like that. She thinks co-workers are out to get her and
I tell her that with jobs, families, and lives beyond work they don't have time to plot the extravagant schemes she imagines.

It really is about ego, but it really is an illness too. She drives me up the wall sometimes, but there's little I can do; she's being treated.

25. I may have a huge ego but don't wander into paranoia.
When every package you get -- those al Qaida towels and shoes and dog gear -- is obviously slashed open and taped barely shut again -- and it happens for months, it makes you wonder. I guess we could have had a stalker at the post office?

Especially if you work half time for MoveOn during a Federal Election year.

I don't put any stupid intimidation tactic past these jerks. My ex, who did suffer from paranoia, never went in the direction of thinking the CIA was listening in the microwave. Go figure.

Do you think that someone's messing with your power supply?

Why is your pooch barking? Does he hear something?

Hope everything's ok.

That really doesn't have anything to do with this, but it's a funny coincidence.

35. There may a problem inside the phone that is causing this
When you take a receiver 'off hook', you are placing a ~1 kilohm short across the two wires ('tip' and 'ring') in your phone line. This tells the equipment in the central office that you are requesting dial tone. Often a customer's own equipment may develop an internal short that will cause this, and unplugging your phone/fax etc. can determine this. The best way to isolate the problem is to take your handset to the network interface (if you can get to it) and plug it into the jack marked "customer access". If the symptom goes away, your problem is somewhere inside; on the wiring or other telephone equipment in your house. If it doesn't go away, the problem exists either in your phone or on the telephone company's line or equipment.

"Power is power," no?

I hope that these phenomena in your OP will settle down, and hope that they imply purely engineering and not political causes. :hi:

24. Most of my DU friends that I have talked to on various telephones
(cell, digital, landline) could verify all kinds of stuff that isn't "coincidence".

Then there are the events that information technology professionals once called "impossible" happening on many of our pc's or public access terminals.

C3IW has been going on here in HOMELAND (tm) for quite awhile-it's the 21st century version (and continuation) of things like the lists of McCarthy, HUAC, COINTELPRO, MH CHAOS, the "closed" Office of Strategic Influence, etc and political websites are battlegrounds.

33. Oh yeah, I've received all kinds of snail mail from organizations and groups
that I'm politically opposed to.

I've seen this crap grow since the 1960's and I've seen what happens when criminal networks are "protected" as "national security assets" and get away with murder of dissidents, activists and organizers.

It certainly is amusing to see some of the posters using well recognized tactics of information warfare in this thread. That's one of the topics DUers talk about offline.

I acknowledge that there are many possibilities for the electrical problems shance-the difference is I certainly acknowledge sanctioned political operatives harassment (and the context of a historical pattern) as being a logical one.

Have an electrician check it out. If it's on the power company side of your service, it will be their responsibility to repair.
