A caller on Randi Rhodes stated they are not impeaching because THEY want Bush's new asserted powers
(Friday's show)

And, Randi called him the smartest guy in the room.

Dems preserving the powers for themselves? If that is true, the ALL should be thrown out!

Party over country.

1. Any Dem who wants to preserve the PATRIOT Act and legalized torture...
...I wouldn't trust any further than I could hurl them. Vote them all out, frog-march them out of their offices, whatever you have to do.

2. I agree.
To not impeach now only tells me that the political system in this country is nothing more than one big con game, and that both parties are in on it.

6. It's a shame that most of us think that way now, but come election
day, will forget and vote the SLEAZY, CORRUPT, BASTARDS back into office.

Must be the short attention span of the sheeple.

14. What will really happen is I'll vote for a 3rd party candidate
and then spend the next year defending myself on DU for ruining the Dems chances at victory...

3. what the dems are being so blind about, in this case:
the repukes have no intention of letting them keep these powers. they will suddenly see the constitutional light and will dismantle all the powers and the dem in the whitehouse will have less power than the governor of texas.

5. Could very well be...
and tossing the entire Bush administration into Gitmo, letting them sit around in orange jumpsuits for years with no trial does actually appeal to me.

I would have to see their private little rule book on what constitutes torture, before I would go too far. However, stripping them naked and making them all lie in a pile doesn't seem to qualify...so I could go along with that.

Maybe we could even imprison their children, just to loosen up their tongues a bit.

case. Everything the bush** admin has done will see to that.

Fools.

9. I just heard that on the podcast. That's one possibility. Later, the woman
Constitutional authority she had said the Dems aren't doing anything because they see it as political advantage in 2008. I'm sure that's true too.

Add to it, spinelessness and drinking from the same corporate well as the Republicans and the Dems don't want to upset their corporate paymasters, then you probably have a complete picture.

There's rarely just ONE reason for someone's motive. It's usually a lot of things.

be careful what you ask for because you just might get it.

I've often wondered when Bush does something that asserts new power if they have considered what the ramifications would be for a Democratic President to have those very same powers. I've decided either of two things: 1) they are that short-sighted or 2) they don't plan on a Democratic president. Now these people in the WH are a lot of things but they are absolutely NOT stupid which rules out #1. So what scares me the most is what if they don't plan on a Democratic president? How are they planning that? The same way they did in Florida and Ohio? Or something more sinister? With a lot of this in mind, it really bothered me when the report came out a week ago or so that Cheney is pushing for war with Iraq because he doesn't trust the next president to take care of the "Iran situation", I guess the way he thinks it should be taken care of. Then I wonder what all that means tied together.

Well,I hope this is not what the Dems are after because I don't believe *-cheney has any intentions of leaving office.

I believe that the the 2008 Elections will be postponed indefinitely due to some terrorist threat that will be invented.

or

The 2008 Elections will be held and a winner declared, but the President-Elect will not be allowed to take office in January 2009 due to some terrorist threat that will be invented.

15. Your kidnapper puts his gun down a second and you aren't going to grab it?
Our good old Demo game seems to be, "You do anything you want to, to us, Mister Republicans. Attack us unfairly, lie, cheat, and hide behind the news powers you've subsumed.

But don't worry. We won't do the same thing to you -- will not use the same gun you have been holding on us to make us strip to our underwear and dance the Hokie Pokie. No sir, that would be wrong.

And rest assured, if we ever get power away from you again (a doubtful proposition), we'll put everything back the way it was -- give up all the power you have seized and used against us -- and let you impede, insult and impeach the nex Democratic president the same way you did the last one. Cause that's the kind of wimps we are.

Not me. I'm in favor of seizing Bush and Co. secretly, imprisoning them incommunicado and torturing them until they admit to every nefarious thing they've ever done and hundreds more they haven't.

IOW, I want to think like a Democrat but govern like a Republican.

18. The boy king's new asserted powers tells me
the Rethugs are determined to hold on to power -- I don't think they're putting these policies into place so that the Democrats can use them.

I'm thinking what they have in store for us is either a new 9/11 or another manipulated election. Having realized that the public is on to them & is damn sick & tired of them, these new asserted -- & very harsh -- powers against the American people were meant to stifle dissent.
