Woman to be U.S. president in January (CNN)
(CNN) – While voters will likely have to wait until February 2008 to learn the winners of the Republican and Democratic presidential primaries, there is no question a woman will be the commander-in-chief in prime-time Monday nights.

When the thriller “24” returns for its seventh season in January 2008, actress Cherry Jones will occupy the Oval Office playing President Allison Taylor. Fox made the announcement Sunday at the Television Critics Association tour in Los Angeles. The network did not announce any details about the character, her politics or the occupation (or former occupation) of her spouse.

So, is President Taylor meant to be any reference to Sen. Hillary Clinton, D-New York? You might recall, President David Palmer led the nation on “24” long before Sen. Barack Obama, D-Illinois, appeared on the national scene.

A real presidential candidate once actually appeared on “24,” when Sen. John McCain, R-Arizona, made a brief cameo in a 2006 episode.

The television show also announced it will make environmental production changes in an effort to make its season “carbon neutral.”

2. thumbs-up on that, and on the carbon-neutral thing!
Since Geena Davis's show was cancelled, I've been wondering about whether we'd be seeing any other female-prez shows on TV.

3. Uh huh. Is it going to tone down the torture?
Or is the lady president going to be gung ho for it? Or worse, made to look wussy for opposing it? Gosh, look how I trust them.

4. If President Taylor wears "hot shoes"
it may encourage Condi to jump into the race.

5. Cherry Jones is awesome
I've never been able to get into 24, but I'll give it another try with her on it.
