Anyone else think Bill O'Reilly has a real mental health problem?
Edited on Tue Jul-24-07 11:47 AM by Marr
Of all the right wing hacks out there, he's the only one I actually have a hard time feeling personal anger towards, because he actually seems mentally ill to me.

Hannity, Coulter, Savage, the others run the gamut from 'hatemonger for hire' to 'egomaniacal party stooge'- but O'Reilly's vitriol actually seems sincere. Even worse- his hatred always seems reserved for people who have crossed Bill O'Reilly, not the Republican Party, as is the norm for the other hacks. Also, they all make things up, but O'Reilly seems completely pathological in his devotion to his own made-up factoids.

Look at this:
http://www.crooksandliars.com/2007/07/24/bill-oreilly-issues-progressives-a-challenge/

Look at the way he smiles- I'm no psychologist, but that is one painful smile. It's like it actually hurts him physically to do it. The man just seems unhinged to me, so watching him is like watching a slow-motion disaster... like watching a roller coaster coming off it's tracks. You don't know how just how long it's going to keep rolling, but it's certain to have an ugly ending. Know what I mean?

2. I think he gets ugly when he's drunk. Or hung over. Or when he needs a drink.
Does that qualify as a mental health problem?

3. I would enjoy seeing his face after death when he finds out that
he is going to spend at minimum 10000 years in each circle of hell. I figure a halfway decent god will eventually allow even the most evil people mercy after a while. proving that the fundamentalist god I was raised to believe in isn't even halfway decent.

6. Watching the video of him salaciously trying to get at the
content of Miss New Jersey's embarrassing photos is painful to watch. I kept expecting him to start masturbating right then and there. As I said on another thread, it wouldn't surprise me in the least if he was eventually caught up in one of NBC's predator nets. I'd be willing to bet big money that he spends a lot of time on line making sexual overtures to strangers.

8. I have noticed a drastic change in ORielly--I had chalked
it up the Iraq Debacle. It appears he has let this drive
him to deperation.

BTW can anyone tell me who Kirsten Powers works as a Campaign
Consultant on Democratic Side? This should tell people
an awful lot about the candidate. She supposedly is the
opposition to Malkin on OReilly. They appear to agree
more than disagree if you follow the show carefully. I am
serious which campaign does she represent??

10. He knows he's on the losing side of the argument.
He's been an administration hack for years...people are rejecting his Party and his politics and he takes it personally. Going after dKos is an act of desperation. He's making himself irrelevant.

12. He's a bully.
I recall reading that he had an abusive (physically) father. People who are bullied often become bullies themselves.

But I'm not so sure of the stability of Hannity, Coulter, Savage, et al.

14. Many right-wing men are emotional children. BillO is one of them.
He also strikes me as borderline sociopathic. He calls everyone who disagrees with him a
terrorist or makes veiled threats toward them and yet when Jon Stewart or Stephen Colbert
exercise that same right of free speech, he goes on Geraldo and pouts (with Geraldo doing
that stupid "They are nothing, you are everything" crap to pump up his ego).

He's a big eight year old boy who doesn't like people insulting his daddy Bush.

15. K&R #1 He's a prisoner inside the bubble of his specific CULTURAL upbringing
Edited on Tue Jul-24-07 01:00 PM by UTUSN
He is LIMITED, wholly enveloped by the worldview he grew up in. He can't see outside of it. He is in a metaphysical bubble. He needs some Cary GRANT-type LSD therapy sessions.

But barring THAT kind of therapy, he needs some intensive family counseling. He is verbally abusive, probably physically abusive. Occasionally he shows pained self-awareness, like when he's reaching out to his b.s. "body reader" to ANALYZE HIS body signals. He needs to be off of the public view and into a profound type of counseling, but so long as he's raking in the big bucks, which he equates with "success" he won't go.

17. Didn't he write a weird novel
where he split himself into two characters, one of whom is a murderer and the other a cop who hunts him down?

Issues. Definitely, some very Big Issues.
