Cindy's Action
was brilliant. It flowed logically from her vigil in Crawford. She is a simple citizen who wants answers to simple questions.

I suggest that we all follow her lead and directly confront our representatives about impeaching Bush. Let's go to their field offices in our home communities and demand an answer -- risking jail if necessary.

This strategy does not require amassing hundreds of thousands of people in Washington. Nor do we all have to take action at the exact same time. But if we the people speak loud enough, we can make them hear.

I disagree with her plan to run as an Independent against Nancy Pelosi, but if I lived in her District I would write her name in on the Democratic Party primary ballot. I disagree with her anger against Democrats when the Republicans are the ones who have caused all the grief, but I share her anger at the Congress as a whole that has so far refused to do its duty concerning Bush, Cheney, Gonzales and the rest of the pretenders who are shaming our country and destroying our Constitution.

And I salute her instinct for making the symbolic gesture that crystalizes the simple truth that most of us are too sophisticated to see.

What we need now is unity among the majority that want to put a stop to Bush and Cheney's march toward dictatorial power and perpetual war. And we need to communicate the truth of our unity to our Represenatives in the most direct way possible.

Cindy is a simple citizen who wants answers to simple questions -- questions that deserve direct answers. I take John Conyers at his word that the votes aren't there for impeachment, as of now. Let us then carry the same message to the rest of our Representatives -- Democrat, Republican or Independent.

We should be pulling together around a strategy for restoring the rule of law. Cindy is no policy expert or pundit. She is a far more precious asset to America -- she is a natural.

1. Well Said!
"Cindy is no policy expert or pundit. She is a far more precious asset to America -- she is a natural."

Cindy is a natural. A natural jewel.

WE LOVE YOU CINDY!!!

Please don't stop!

5. Camp Casey was 'natural'. Chanting 'shame' to Conyers is the work of something
much less authentic.

2. "Let us then carry the same message to... Republican(s) or Independent(s)"
Tell her that.

3. Sure, why not?
I've never met her, and as I pointed out above, I have some disagreements with some of what she has said.

Unity comes from finding areas of agreement and respectfully noting areas of disagreement.

We need unity now more than ever.

4. Actually, Camp Casey was authentic. Lately Sheehan's 'actions' have seemed forced
and the product of something that originates from a voice other than her own.

I think the hangers-on around her are not her real friends or allies.

7. What is forced about asking Conyers why not?
I'm not trying to deify the woman -- but I think this move struck a nerve. A lot of people don't seem to like it when "our" side gets the gaff. Conyers is a great man -- and this little fracas did not hurt him in the slightest.

I'm suggesting that we not focus on what we think of Cindy, but instead look at the straightforward logic of the move -- like Gandhi making salt or Rosa Parks not giving up her seat. This is not to say that Cindy equals Rosa or Gandhi -- and Rosa sure as hell did not equal Gandhi.

But the confrontation itself -- I think it was perfect.

9. storming Conyers office on the day he announced "criminal contempt" was not productive
in any way whatsoever.

That she then apparently called the police ride her 'campaign bus' indicates a direction following a much different vector than Camp Casey.

12. Like I pointed out in the other thread...
Cindy's "storming" of the office was announced well before Conyers' committee vote.

"That she then apparently called the police ride her 'campaign bus' indicates a direction following a much different vector than Camp Casey."

Why? Bush had her arrested too.

Why is it "authentic" when she protests republicans, and "forced" when she protests democrats?

8. guilty as charged, kinda
but I hope this thread is not ABOUT Cindy -- but about the idea of confronting Congress members in their offices. Painfully simple idea -- yet I didn't think of it. Did you?

11. Somebody has to push the envelope. Sheehan seems to be
that person. Her protests like the one in Conyers office bring attention to very important subjects and she is letting elected officials know that they MUST stop Bush.

I support her fully.
