Bush has punked us all again-War to continue through 2009
And I didn't see this on DU-probably missed it-but that Iraq thing-NOT ENDING even WHEN Bush is gone. Oh well, on with election 2008!

http://news.yahoo.com/s/nm/20070724/ts_nm/iraq_usa_pentagon_dc

The senior U.S. commander in Iraq is preparing a plan for military operations that sets summer 2009 as the goal for achieving a sustainable level of security throughout the country, his spokesman said on Tuesday.

The draft, developed by Gen. David Petraeus' staff, lays out a series of security-related goals over two years, envisioning U.S. troops in the war zone through 2009.
~

I'm guessing this Petraeus dude is the military equivalent of Mr. Gonzalez. Only what the president wants.

The more this plans are set, the more entrenched-the harder this war becomes to devolve from. The next president is going to have no easy time either. That's why impeachment. Because it's a nightmare that never ends without the truth (lies) of this war being laid out there. Only the truth will set us free. The propaganda is killing us, literally.

7. Yes, I'm aware of the embassy
And the twenty year plan. I guess I should have said the Democrats have punked us again. Because they aren't stopping this shit. They don't have the guts for it. This is combat operations for two more years. No, I didn't think anything would change with September. Once again Bush says fuck you to the country and especially to the Democrats. And what are they going to do about it? Oh I know, they don't have the votes. See you in 2009!

2. Do we have the votes
Edited on Tue Jul-24-07 08:23 PM by Cheney Killed Bambi
to cut off funding?

That is the question.

Do we have 218 votes in the House? That's all we need.

8. Brown punked the Brits too. Did you see this?
Military strike on Iran an option: Gordon Brown
    24 Jul 2007, 0044 hrs IST,REUTERS

LONDON: UK Prime Minister Gordon Brown said on Monday he would not rule out military action against Iran, but believed a policy of sanctions could still persuade Tehran to drop its disputed nuclear programme.

“I firmly believe that the sanctions policy that we are pursuing will work, but I'm not one who's going forward to say that we rule out any particular form of action,” Brown said. ...

9. Hardly surprising.
Edited on Tue Jul-24-07 08:36 PM by Marr
I think we all saw this coming long ago. Everyone knows that September isn't going to be any better than July, and the Bush Administration is never going to pull out of Iraq by choice. They'd sacrifice another 100k troops to their egos, ideology, and bank accounts if allowed to.

And I'm not surprised at the blatant manipulation of the Summer '09 deadline, either. Juuuust long enough to blame the inevitable mess on someone else. And they think we're too stupid to see that. Well, their base is, I suppose.

10. we`ll keep at least two bases
for the foreseeable future. that is the reality of the situation that has been handed to the next president. the majority of the combat troops will be with drawn starting next year.

12. It truly amazes me that the main news media doesn't mention this.
It's all about another drunken, drugged, crazed white woman 24/7. No wonder this nation is in the state that it's in. Larry King devoted and entire panel to Lindsay...?
Meanwhile, our democracy, morality, humanity, and being rolled over by a group of seasoned thugs in the WH, the Supreme Court, and the Congress. It was just another total lie to the American people that there would be a report that mattered from Gen. P in September. The plan has been all along to be in Iraq beyond 2008, handing this mess over to the next President. The Congress is almost silent on this eventhough documents have been found that prove this is the plan. What will it take to for a regime change in America?
