With relatively slim House and Senate majorities, and a Supreme Court....
that's always going to be 5-4 on the side of pure evil, how can we get out of this mess?

Try to pass an end-to-the-war resolution in the Senate, it gets filibustered. Pass intensified hate crimes legislation, and the president threatens to veto it. And if it gets to the Supreme Court, well, you know what will happen.

It reminds me of the lyrics from "Will I?", a song from the musical "Rent.":

Will I lose my dignity
will someone care
will i wake tomorrow
from this nightmare

I know there's a lot of hope about the 2008 elections, and hopefully that will be a watershed moment. But who knows what will happen between now and then. .... Are we just f**ked?
