The Pretzel logic of the Pretzel King* himself.... trying to work this out.
I was listening to NPR this morning as they reported on the misleaders Al Queda Greatest Hits speech of yesterday, and trying to work out the slight of hand/"logic" that he is expecting us to follow.

His major premise - "Al Q in Iraq is part of Al Q, and they are the ones that hit us on 911, so we must finish the enemy off, since Iraq has become the center of the war on terra" - is that the premise that he wishes us to follow?

Let's pick this apart by working backwards.

We can argue with the relative numbers of those doing the damage over there, but let's accept that there are those in Iraq stirring things up that have links to Al Q proper.

Why are they there? Because of our illegal invasion of Iraq - otherwise, Iraq would be just one more disfunctionally led country, AKA North Korea or any number of African dictatorships that would be of no direct threat to the US.

Why are Al Q still in power? Because we took our eye off the ball following 911 - obviously, part of the grand neocon plan for oil dominance.

So, though *'s statement at face value could be accepted - that Iraq has become one of the central flashpoints - and we get a report this week saying that it is actually the regrouping of AlQ in Pakistan/Afghanistan that could be a threat to the US.

The media still seems to miss, to me, a major point. Are those who made the bad decisions/peddled the lies to create the above mess still in power? Yes. And there is no reason to believe that those who are so inept could possibly do anything to improve the situation.

So, they must go. We need new leadership - we need honest leadership. It is time for Impeachment, conviction, imprisonment. Anything less is to turn our back on our Democracy.
