Fla. Girl Calls Abuse Line, Gets Sex Hotline
A Lake City, Fla., woman said she is upset about a sex line mix-up that put her daughter on the wrong end of an inappropriate phone call.
The woman said her 8-year-old thought she was calling a state-sponsored sexual assault hotline, but what she got was a pay-per-hour sex line that cost her family a lot more than a few dollars, WJXT-TV reported.
"I'd say probably about five seconds into conversation, she got this look on her face. Then the tears started welling up into her eyes and her little chin started shaking. So, I put the phone up to my ear and I heard sex talk, and I was in utter disbelief," the child's mother told WJXT-TV.

The 8-year-old and her mom dialed the sex hotline thinking they were calling a sexual assault hotline to get help after the child became a victim of what her parents said was inappropriate contact with another child.
They said they found the number printed in the current edition of the Lake City phonebook. The cover of the phonebook says it's good until August 2007.
