During an Oval Office ceremony with the co-chairs of the President's Commission on Care for America's Returning Wounded Warriors, Bush acknowledged ABCs' Bob Woodruff,who was part of the press pool.

"I also want to recognize Bob Woodruff here. He is a -- he himself was wounded, severely wounded, and went through the system, to a certain extent. And we welcome you back, and we're glad you're with us. And we would hope that any wounded soldier, any person in uniform would receive the kind of care and the ability to return to work, just like you have done. And so we're glad you're with us, Bob. Congratulations on the will to recover."

But later, when Woodruff tried to ask a question, Bush refused, joking that "just because I recognized you Bob" didn't entitle him to ask a question.

He must have been afraid that Woodruff was going to ask for some sort of truth telling. And as far as the comment, "congratulations on the will to recover", that is a stupid statement. Why wouldn't Woodruff or anyone else have the will to recover? Christ, we all want to feel good and not have pain. Bush also proves again that he has no fucking concept of the real world.

He's not going to have to see veterans in wheelchairs with tin cans, here about the hard-cores who couldn't live in a world without violence and killed their wives, robbed a store. rebuffing Woodruff, (who I'm assuming did an expose on the lack of care for returning veterans) means Bush is unwilling to listen to the veterans concerns. Evading Woodruff's question means he didn't have an answer to begin with. The wretch could care less.
