I don't get your obsession about the next Democrat nomination.
There is months and months before it gets actual.

The storm between Clinton and Obama will have been forgotten a long time ago. Many other storms will happen and go.

Sometimes I don't get you southern neighbors.

If, we, people of the industrial world, raise our voice about the injustice done right now to our planet...We could definitively have some impact on the crazy stuff happening in the developing countries.

Sorry I am a bit intoxicated...and instead of posting an easy flow logical post, I feel like I am just trying to dodge the professional critics who found a comfortable niche on DU.

So lets go back to the essential:

We are all part of a specie.

A very small percentage of our specie is controlling not only the Wall Street stuff, but also the territorial wars surrounding (linked to ) the many regional clashes.

With respect

1. Sometimes I don't get you northern folk
But I suspect we don't have to "get" each other, as we come from different cultures. Let us deal with
our own issues and you deal with yours. It's the intention to cram us into one that is Bush's handiwork.

4. With respect, I disagree with you.
Agreed we come from different cultures. But whenever global studies are being publicized, they linked Canada to the US.

Canadian are the little brothers. We follow the Big brother. We, specially since Harper's election, are identified with the North American empire.

Here I want to specify that the Quebequers are different and are walking to a different drum beat.

7. You see yourselves as "little brothers" perhaps

Americans comprise 300 million individuals who see Canadians in 300 million different ways. I doubt you'd
find more than surface consensus among more than a few of us, and even those observations will be markedly different.

2. The Browns - Steelers rivalry has been going on for years.
granted it's a bit one-sided, but it's all part of the sport.

3. Sorry, but I don't get what you are talking about.
I understand it has something to do do with some sport rivalry.

I don't think I hinted about sports in my OP. So...

5. Because we enjoy a good bloodbath in politics at every opportunity...
I didn't know there were professional critics. Where do I apply? I think I'd be good enough to make a living off ot it. :)

6. Hi Lise
You're right, a lot of the posturing going on is far too early to count for anything. In fact, it's sad that campaigns are started so few months after an election. This is a trend, and not the candidates' fault, but they feel compelled to start this early. I don't agree with it. I think it's crap.

Something will happen that will make everything said up to this point moot. Be it an attack, or severe weather system, or political coup.

The sad fact is that Earth doesn't wait, and we will continue to see devastating floods and droughts where rainfall used to be normal, regardless of whom is elected. This political bickering of Kyoto and other measures is what will do us in.

I watched a moon-landing video earlier tonight, and wondered what happened to the drive in this country. What happened is the pursuit of the almighty dollar. The same people who suck up to the money-makers are the same types who await the end of the world.

Here's Tom Delay on the matter:
http://schoolsmatter.blogspot.com/2007/07/tom-delay-and-armageddon-assistance.html

"Obviously, it's what I live for, and I hope it comes tomorrow"

I wonder if that's his way if saying that his God would wash away his sins, because he has to know he's a sinner. Tom Delay HAS to know he's done wrong, assuming of course that he's searched his soul as a good Christian should.

Then, we have Bush. He lived a life full of coke-snorting and other indulgences. But he found Jesus. So according to some, it's okay. Nevermind the fact that he thinks God tells him to kill people.

9. We have more people than you do
Once the primary starts in January, there are 50 states that have to be gotten within a short period of time. The campaigns are laying the groundwork to do that now. Plus raising funds for big states like CA, which are almost completely ad driven because there are just way too many people to talk to.

Think of this, as Michael Moore pointed out, we have more uninsured people than you have in your whole country. And somewhere around 80% are insured. That's how many more people that our candidates have to campaign to.

And, Hillary is not the same as Kucinich who is not the same as Edwards who is not the same as Obama who is not the same as Hillary - or Gravel, Biden, Dodd, or Richardson. Whether someone raises a voice about developing countries is dependent on who we pick as our candidate. Some will raise a louder voice than others, and some will say labor rights and some will say let the market work. That's the obsession.

11. The Democratic nomination for 2008 is tantamount to the presidency.
And these days, many of your neighbors to the south are in a keen mood for a Democratic president.

We aren't too pleased with the guy who's in there now.

Thank you for Gordon Lightfoot, Joni Mitchell and Neil Young.
