Isn't 20% a little modest. How about 80%.

"Bush to envision 20 percent reduction in gasoline consumption over the next Decade"?

Come on. Since I started taking the train to work I went from driving around 200 miles a week to maybe 2 miles a week.

I know not everyone has public transportation, but a lot do who never use it, and still, people do a LOT of unnecessary driving (people who drive every day for lunch come to mind), and combined with more fuel efficient cars, 20% is pathetic. If we really tried we could get an 80% reduction over a few years.

We might even be forced into a 100% reduction at any surprise moment the way things are going.

We're talking about changing people's mindsets and habits, and to do that in 10 years would be something.

that sounds sorta like a moon base to me. sure, we could do it. but we won't. and we sure as *hell* won't do it with bush baby wielding a veto pen.
