What a terrifying experience for the poor people on
the bridge when it collapsed.

2. Wow! Looks like something that would happen due to
..an earthquake.

Human engineering is not without its flaws. I am curious what exactly caused the collapse and whom constructed the bridge; PARSONS tends to get a lot of such jobs.

4. My money is on...

...either neglect in upkeep (due to either corruption or asshat politicians slashing funding) or fauly initial construction (due either to corruption or, somehow asshat politicians.)

Time will tell.

8. Neglect in upkeep is probably the case.
I never really liked going across that bridge when I lived in the Cities. It never really looked all that stable.

5. That is massive.
It's going to be a highly sophisticated effort to untangle that. Anyone who has operated a crane knows how slow and careful that kind of operation is.

I can't imagine how much time and cost it's going to involve.

Thank goodness more people didn't suffer in that.

9. I got a 404 as well.
This site has both video and a slideshow: http://wcco.com/

WCCO is the CBS affiliate in the Twin Cities (and a fairly decent news organization).
