Ex-White House aides to be interviewed 'off record' on Tillman
Edited on Thu Aug-02-07 03:16 PM by jgraz
A House committee investigating Patrick Tillman's death by friendly fire agreed Thursday to off-the-record interviews with White House aides.

Oversight Committee Chairman Henry Waxman agreed to "informal" interviews with three former presidential aides: communications director Dan Bartlett, spokesman Scott McClellan and speechwriter Michael Gerson.

"We believe this is a constructive offer and we are willing to proceed on this basis," Waxman and ranking Republican Tom Davis wrote to White House counsel Fred Fielding.

The committee reserved the right to subpoena the former aides if it was not satisfied after the private session that they were not involved in mishandling the disclosure of the circumstances surrounding Tillman's death.

Again, what the fuck? Get a subpoena and get the federal marshals to haul their asses in front of the committee. Why is Waxman softpedaling a murder investigation??

Maybe the Dems are planning on using that expanded evesdropping law to get at the truth here.

well okay I know the reason but still - come on they are going to lie - make it something that will bite them in the ass if they do it.

2. bush is what he is today BECAUSE Congress allowed him, and that includes Democrats
Afraid not to vote for the IWR or the patriot act because you might look weak

no surprise from me

They are a joke. Maybe they should think about why Congressional approval is so low

In five years when we are still in Iraq what are they going to say?

3. It is not a murder investigation
The Army should do that.

Waxman's committee is investigating what role, if any, the Bush Regime had in covering up the facts of the case once they were known.

No one except a hard core conspiracy theorist believes any one in the Bush regime put a hit on CPL Tillman.
