In Minnesota, Franken And Ciresi Suspend Campaigns — But RNC Continues On
Al Franken and Mike Ciresi, who are running against each other for the Democratic nomination for Senate, have both suspended their campaign activities in light of yesterday's tragic bridge collapse. This includes the cancellation of a scheduled appearance by Franken on the David Letterman show. On the other hand, the New York Times reports that the Republican National Committee is continuing with their summer meeting in Minneapolis, which had already begun yesterday and continues through Saturday, with appearances by Ann Romney, Rudy Giuliani's campaign manager Michael DuHaime, First Lady Laura Bush, Governor Tim Pawlenty and others.

4. One paragraph speaks volumes, doesn't it? I think we need a drinking game
for every time the word "bridge, infrastructure, and tragedy" get used in the same sentence at the RRRNC.

This is SICK and I hope the Democrats use it to their advantage for a change.

People are still stranded in car under the water and those fuckers are worried about raising MONEY? Fucking disgusting.

K & R!

9. Tucker Carlson was interviewing a bystander who helped the rescued.
The man mentioned that after he helped pull people from cars and wreckage in the river, the "rescued" began helping others immediately. Carlson sounded amazed. Watching, I thought about the contrast between Democrats and Republicans and how Minneapolis is a "Democratic" city. The Mayor is a Dem and they vote in high numbers for Democrats every election. Carlson pressed the gentleman with questions, ooohs and awes, and general disbelief. The man exclaimed "maybe it's a Minnesota thing?"

Minnesota was the only state in the Nation to elect Mondale for President. We've voted Blue in every Democratic election since my birth.

12. It's funny, I wasn't surprised at all
that survivors with minor injuries immediately set out to see what they do to help; that residents from the apartments along University Avenue instinctively started pouring down the riverbanks to assist; that my Saint Paul streets were full of first responders rushing to Minneapolis. That's just the way we do things in Minnesota, I never thought it could be any other way. That Tucker Carlson should find this remarkable speaks volumes.
