Taking time to remember my father,
Who was on a ship in the Pacific waiting to invade the Japanese homeland when the Empire surrendered. Had it not been for some brave decisions made on this day, many of us may not be here today.

1. God Bless you and your Father My Friend
Yeah, War is Hell. So the Germanys and the Japans and the bushs of the planet shouldn't start them. I hope you had a good long time with your Dad.

5. It was truly a tragic situation
But I don't think that we can possibly understand the fear in the minds of ALL the participants in that event. (Willing and unwilling.)

A friend of my son has spent considerable time in Japan, and I asked him about how the Japanese he knows view the bombing. He said the people he spoke to acknowledged that there would have been no surrender without it. He said women were committing suicide because they'd been told that the American invaders would rape them. They didn't understand our culture any better than we understood theirs.

3. Put on the flame suit! These threads turn vicious quick.
My dad was on Okinawa training for the invasion when it happened. He felt the same as your dad.

7. My dad too. Thank you dads for your service.
Even today, looking back, it is hard to say what was best, what was right, but through it all, thank you dads for your service.
