Skull & Bones - Deer Island - Anyone know much about?
Edited on Tue Aug-07-07 12:21 AM by RamboLiberal
Just curious. I rented the Matt Damon movie "The Good Shepherd" which Robert De Niro directed(and has a small part in). The movie is about a CIA operative from his days pre WWII being recruited in to Skull and Bones, then the OSS and then the CIA up to the Bay of Pigs invasion. Highly recommend this movie if you haven't seen it.

I certainly know about Skull and Bones - depictions of the rituals and the blind loyalty to this society is a fascinating depiction in the movie. How it is the society of presidents, business leaders, government operatives and those in government intelligence. Scary! How their loyalty is to S&B above country or god.

I really didn't know much about Deer Island the private retreat of S&B. Found it interesting that the Google Earth link to Deer Island when I tried to zoom in it blurs - h'mmm - anyone know why when I can zoom on my house and almost see my dog in the yard this is happening? Is this like the Cheney's VP residence being blurred?

Is S&B still using Deer Island for retreats? What time periods during year? Any thing else occur there beyond the socializing?

2. Clinton did not belong to S&B
He belonged to another Yale society. Kerry and Bush are both S&B.

Illuminati.

Bush is a member and I wonder if Shrub's daughter Barbara is now a member. Didn't she go to Yale?

14. I don't think women are allowed to be members,.....
it is a fraternity but maybe they can be "little sisters" like I was in college (first time around). I wonder what that recruitment process would be like!

17. S&B is not a Fraternity.. Here goes
From 60 Minutes

And to a man and women, they'd responded to questions with utter silence until an enterprising Yale graduate, Alexandra Robbins, managed to penetrate the wall of silence in her book, “Secrets of the Tomb,” reports CBS News Correspondent Morley Safer.
snip
Gassing or not, the best-connected white man's club in America has moved reluctantly into the 21st Century.

“Skull and Bones narrowly endorsed admitting women,” says Robbins. “The day before these women were supposed to be initiated, a group of Bonesmen, including William F. Buckley, obtained a court order to block the initiation claiming that letting women into the tomb would lead to date rape. Again more legal wrangling; finally it came down to another vote and women were admitted and initiated.”

But Skull & Bones now has women, and it’s become more multicultural.

The White House for instance. However I did notice that either the Kremlin or the Reichstag isn't. I forget which. And most of North Korea consists of very old images, drastically older than images from South Korea. But Baghdad is fine. I wonder about Iran. Hmm... Have to check it out sometime.

13. Strange Indeed
I just did a google map search and after checking it out something very strange happened. I was looking in hybrid mode and once I zoomed in the northern end had streets listed, but the farther I zoomed in the streets disappeared.
I zoomed out and went to some of the other modes, then back to the hybrid mode and zoomed in, this time there were more streets showing up with them mostly on the southeastern side. I zoomed in again and right before my eyes they just vanished. Zip, Zoom, GONE.

STRANGE.... Twilight Zone moment.

Anyone else feel like giving it a try and see if you get the same results?!?
