So all of them must refuse the permanent fund check each year, right?

I suspect the answer is partly because you can still live a very rural life up there and hunt and fish to your hearts content (my brother is able to get 20 salmon/family member in one weekend and I'm sure it isn't just restricted to one weekend a year).
