I rarely disagree with Rachel Maddow but I did tonight
She said that Rudy's daughter supporting Obama was not newsworthy and candidates' kids should be left alone unless they actively campaign or do something newsworthy like get arrested. I think it's damn newsworthy when a candidate's kid backs another candidate, especially of the other party. Moreover, his daughter has changed her surname from Giuliani to Hanover, her mother's name. When's the last time you can remember a candidate's kid doing that.

They do mention that Rudy attended her HS graduation but left before it was over, didn't speak to her and didn't attend the after party. I'm sure that's because she didn't want him there.

I do agree that if she doesn't want to be interviewed she shouldn't be badgered, but her preference was posted openly online. And her name change is public too.

1. Yes, it was some kind of public facebook posting, wasn't it?
Fair game, I say.

2. I have to agree with you.
We can only IMAGINE what non-stop news coverage there would be if Edwards' or Hillary's daughter came out in support of a GOP candidate right now!

3. I disagree with Rachel also. If Rudy's daughter wants the country
to know that she doesn't back her Dad, then that's fine with me. We don't discourage kids that do back their parents and we shouldn't discourage Rudy's daughter either. She obviously wants this to be known and that in itself takes a certain amount of courage. You go, Girl.

4. Actually I don't think she does want to be known
Cause I read she scrubbed her facebook entry immediately.

But it's still a news story as is her name change. It's just IMO that there's a difference between the media not hounding her and the media censoring this.
