Excuse # 8,565

1955 - They are an inferior race
1965 - They aren't good workers
1975 - They make old white customers uncomfortable
1985 - Affirmative action means their diplomas are bogus
1995 - They are a litigation risk for discrimination
2007 - Diversity creates depression and hopelessness.

It's always something.

1. You do realize that you and Robert Putnam would probably
see eye to eye on oh, maybe 99% of the problem.

The other one percent he couldn't make go away, even though he spent years trying to make the data fit what he wanted it to say. Now, I don't know about you, but when a researcher is honest enough to say he tried for years to make his data conform to his hypothesis but finally couldn't, that's a good thing.

Reality is seldom an excuse.
