This just in- Valerie Wilson lawsuit appeal.
Edited on Sat Aug-11-07 12:24 AM by Gregorian
It looks like they're going ahead with an appeal. Our donations are needed. We've got to see this through.

10 August 2007
Dear Friends and Supporters,

As you may already know, District Court Judge John D. Bates dismissed our civil suit against Vice President Dick Cheney, presidential aide Karl Rove, I. Lewis "Scooter" Libby and Richard Armitage . Although we are clearly disappointed in Judge Bates' decision, our legal team at CREW has concluded that there are ample grounds for an appeal. Indeed, even Judge Bates recognized that our claims "pose important questions relating to the propriety of actions undertaken by our highest government officials." We have long understood that the struggle to expose the truth and to hold administration officials accountable for their actions would be long and arduous. Our resolve to move forward by filing an appeal was further strengthened by President Bush's recent demonstration of contempt for our system of justice and the rule of law with his commutation of Scooter Libby's entire 2 ½ year prison sentence.

The stakes for our country are high. We cannot be intimidated and permit those who occupy high office to violate that sacred trust. We cannot allow government officials to retaliate against dissent with systematic campaigns of vilification and character assassination. We will not tolerate officials betraying, for purely political ends, those who have dedicated their lives to protecting national security. If we do, we set a dangerous precedent that will almost certainly lead to future criminal acts and further impunity..

Our demand for the truth and accountability can only be achieved via the courts, and this of course, requires continued financial support. We realize that you have already generously donated to our Legal Support Fund and without you we would not have reached this point. It is our hope that you can assist us once again by visiting our website, www.WilsonSupport.org , and making an additional contribution.

With gratitude,
Valerie and Joe Wilson

Edit- DONATE. Or I'll come to your house and play Jerry Reed albums at high volumes.

27. An appeal must be made and won to set precedence.
The judge at his position cannot do anything but dismiss it. And, the appeal must be made in order for precedence to be made. That's the way it is as far as I know.

hmmm......Jerry Reed?

All I remember is East bounder down.

Im fine with you cranking up the volume on that one.

;)

I couldnt agree more on the contribution.

In my opinion that is money donated for one very important cause - an investment in proper justice and accountability.

thanks again for the post and keeping us informed*

If they won their lawsuit, wouldn't the loser have to pay for their court cost and attorney's fees?

23. The Wilsons' lawsuit
is not for their own financial gain. Any potential awards that go beyond their investment will be invested in one of more organizations that benefit whistle blowers.

26. Oh my god, it's topical! Check out the last lines.
It is Jerry Reed.

Well me and Homer Jones and Big John Talley
Had a big crap game goin' back in the alley
And I kept rollin' them sevens, winnin' all them pots
My luck was so good I could do no wrong
I jest kept on rollin' and controllin' them bones
And finally they jest threw up their hands and said
"When you hot, you hot"
I said "Yeah?"

When you're hot, you're hot
And when you're not, you're not
Put all the money in and let's roll 'em again
When you're hot, you're hot
(La la la la la la la) (La la la la la)
(La la la la la la la, when you're hot, you're hot)

Well, now every time I rolled them dice I'd win
And I was just gettin' ready to roll 'em again
When I heard somethin' behind me
I turned around and there was a big old cop
He said "Hello, boys" and then he gave us a grin 'n' said
"Look like I'm gonna hafta haul you all in
And keep all that money for evidence"
I said, "Well, son when you hot, you hot"
He said "Yeah"

When you're hot, you're hot
And when you're not, you're not
You can 'splain it all down at City Hall
I say, yeah, when you're hot, you're hot
You're hot
(La la la la la la la) (La la la la la)
(La la la la la la la, when you're hot, you're hot)

Well, when he took us inta court I couldn't believe my eyes
The judge was a fishin' buddy that I recognized
I said "Hey, judge, old buddy, old pal"
"I'll pay ya that hundred I owe ya if you'll get me outta this spot"
So he gave my friends a little fine to pay
He turned around and grinned at me and said
"Ninety days, Jerry, when you hot, you hot"
'N' I said "Thanks a lot"

When you're hot, you're hot
And when you're not, you're not
He let my friends go free and throwed the book at me
He said "Well, when you're hot, you're hot"

I said, "Well I'll tell ya one thing judge, old buddy, old pal
If you wasn't wearin' that black robe I'd take out in back of this courthouse
And I'd try a little bit of your honor on
You understand that, you hillbilly?
Who gonna collect my welfare?"
(When you're hot, you're hot)
"Pay for my Cadillac?
Whadda you mean 'contempt of court'?"
(When you're hot, you're hot)
"Judge"

33. I had that Laugh-in quality to it.
1972. He got a Grammy for that. And Wiki called it a "novelty" tune. That would be the Laugh-in quality.

I wish I had a time machine. We'd wear it out undoing Dingbat's damage. Which brings us back to this thread. How far we've gone/come.

Oh well. Try to smile.

34. If Einstein was correct,
all 'time' is occurring simultaneously.

Wish we could reach across and scare some humanity into the little prick, before the damage was done.

"Oh well. Try to smile." Even when it hurts G, even when is hurts.
