I am PROUD to live in Massachusetts today (gay rights)

I am taking a Motorcycle Course this weekend (today and tomorrow) for my license. There were a dozen of us in the class. This morning the instructor went around the room and asked us to introduce ourselves and talk a little about why we were there.

The people are a pretty diverse group: couple of teens, some of us older, one in his 60's, 3 women, couple of people who looked 50ish.

Anyway, 2 of the women (unrelated, taking the class seperately) said that their "WIVES" were riders and they were taking the class so they could share a passion for riding.

Women in the class told us their WIVES wanted them to take it.

Nobody thought anything of it. Just like when *I* said MY WIFE wanted me to take it for safety.

It really didn't hit me until the drive home that gay marriage really IS every day life for us up here. Not only are gay couples COMFORTABLE (not all probably, I realize) openly talking about it but openly talk about it in front of strangers. Perhaps more importantly, those STRANGERS didn't even find it unusual.

Life is fantastic up here. Yeah, we have our repukes but I'm damned proud to be living here today. We have a long way to go but the distance is NOTHING compared to the other states.

because this is they way it should be. I do know people here in Kansas who will say that but it is often met with stares, not usually with comments so that is a big change for the best, but it means it is getting a little better here too.

This is the way life should be. Thank you for sharing this story.

All I ask for is EQUAL rights, regardless of how you define yourself.
