How much more can Bush do to hollow out this country?
He has gutted our military, destroyed our National Guard and Reserves and made it impossible to respond to natural disasters, let health care and financial support for the middle class disappear, taken away our civil rights and gotten us fighting among ourselves. (Add your own atrocity here) Now it is clear that our infrastructure is deteriorating almost beyond repair.

This is the latest: The federal government has let the intracoastal waterway silt in, ignoring its own law that requires a 12-foot channel at low tide.

"In the last three years, commercial traffic on the waterway has dried up even more. Many captains won't travel the route anymore and consider it closed south of Morehead City, N.C.

"Some of the larger recreational boats that travel the coast have been forced offshore into the more dangerous, and unpredictable Atlantic.

"Now, after six straight years of budget cuts, the Atlantic Intracoastal Waterway is barely more than a third the depth it should be. Unless something changes soon, the East Coast's maritime highway could become the nautical equivalent of a dirt road, grounding $10 billion in commercial and recreational commerce and cutting off some of Charleston's supply of fuel, building materials and transit-boat business.

"It's getting worse out there," said Benjamin "Bos" Smith, operations manager of Stevens Towing. "It's like having a road - if you don't maintain it, you can't use it."

Now this may not sound like anything important to most people but it is emblematic of the way this administration has starved the entire country to provide for his damnable war.

1. Don't underestimate the size, strength, and intricacy of the Old American Republic
One thing watching the Early and Early-Middle Tranisiton Phases (from Old American Republic and freedom to a BushPutinist State and Tyranny) I have learned is that the process is not hundreds of aspect of the destruction, but thousands, even hundreds of thousands.

We are spectators to the most spectacular transformation since Germany 1933 or Rome 48 BC. It is horrific, doubly so given having to watch it in "slow motion" and being unable to alter it.

So, yes, there are many more ways, thousands of more specific ways, Royal and Loyal Bushies have hollowed out our nation in the process of looting it.

These shall become revealed to us as they happen, many will be surprises.

2. He has put in place tapeworms, system wide...
Outsourcing lots and lots of work to contractors at twice the cost of the federal workforce. . They will be eating away at the coffers long after this admin is gone.

3. Maybe they are getting it ready to turn into a Super Highway?
Put in the hands of another country or large corp. I am sure it would work well. Just look at what the brains at the car makers have done to that business, and all getting good year end pay for doing it. Good old laissez faire capitalism at work.

4. He can do so much more in the final year+, it's frightening.
Remember - this is a man who is going to veto healthcare for little kids. Bomb Iran? Maybe. Repair infrastructure? Unlikely. Health care? Let the people suffer and die. My money is on another devastating hurricane that will leave another major city blown to hell. Dubya, of course, will be cutting brush at the faux ranch.
