Will you read Bush's memoirs?
Say several years from now, when Bush's memoirs come out, will you read them? Out of some morbid curiousity? Or just for a certain insight on the guy. Maybe you're a columnist and you want to write a column on what is sure to be a bullshitfest.

I think I'll past, but then again, you never know. Pretty sure I wouldn't waste my time though.

2. No, not because of hatred for him, but because there wouldn't be a word of truth in it
Edited on Mon Aug-13-07 08:58 AM by ThomWV
There would be nothing to be learned from it. He would just give his version of events, but I can see that any day I want on FOX News right now.

If you want to find out about the Bush Presidency you'll have to do it by reading court transcrips.

6. Exactly. It will be a complete distortion of reality. This is a group that thrives on hiding
every last inside detail of their cabal so a memoir will not have any insight and certainly not an ounce of truth. It would be a waste of paper and a waste of my time. I know the man is a phony and a fraud and I hope someday his conscience will catch up with him, but I won't hold my breath.

11. According to John Dean, his autobiography " A Charge To Keep"
was 'a work described by the Texas Observer as "a political memoir so bad that reviewers have been calling around looking for ghost readers to review it."'

5. I think i'll pass
But I'd read Rove's.

The Bush Memoirs are going to be some ghost written piece of crap, which will be as authentic as a three and a half dollar bill.

Roves on the other hand will be shaded in his favor, but i think he will write them himself and I think he might be arrogant enough to lay out some of the stuff he did (in "the service of the constitution," no doubt).

10. "I remember my first bottle of Lone Star beer like it was yesterday. Sometimes I start the morning
with a beer. Beer is good for you. Of course, it makes me fart, but that's good for you. too. Good for a couple of laughs, anyway. I like to eat pretzels, when I'm drinking. Especially, if there's a ball game on TV. Next to catching that there perch, my most memorable times in life were spent at the ballpark. Of course, there was that period of time when I was your president. But, like you, I'm hoping that memories of that time are fading away."

From Publishers Weekly

In the tradition of Jon Stewart's America: The Book and satirical newspaper The Onion (which Dikkers runs as editor-in-chief), this faux autobiography recounts George W. Bush's mediocre rise from humble beginnings (as a child of "simple oil folks") to become the 43rd President of the United States. Dikkers and Hilleren play on every Bush stereotype, from his privileged insider perspective ("I believe in tax relief for Wal-Mart and other large department store chains which clothe and feed the poor") to his close and personal bond with his savior ("Hello, Jesus, my name is George W. Bush and I'm asking for your support in my run for Congress"), in a voice studded with Bush's trademark malapropisms. The authors also include fake artifacts, including newspaper clippings, White House memos and Bush's Yale admissions essay (complete with a note from Dad). Though the gags are often as sharp as they are stupid (chapter titles include "Then I Ran Some Companies into the Ground," "George Walker, Texas Ranger," and "The Clown-Faced Zombie I Call My Wife"), readers may find the joke wearing a little thin by the time they reach the 16-page photo spread of Bush with Jesus Christ. Readers may want to skip around to prevent satirical fatigue.

From Booklist

Underscore unauthorized. Dikkers, founder and editor in chief of the satirical publication theOnion, and Hilleren, former public radio producer, joined to craft this humorous look at the life of President George W. Bush, as if penned by the forty-third president himself. They chronicle Bush's privileged childhood, his uninspiring academic performance, and his rise to wealth and influence in business and, finally, politics with the help of family connections. Written in imitation of Bush's breezy style, the facts are all there, but the tone is heavily satiric. Illustrations include a report card with grades altered, a loyalty oath signed by Laura Bush, and--after Bush's proclaimed religious conversion--the presence of Jesus in photographs of his life from babyhood through the presidential swearing-in ceremony through his speech at ground zero after the 9/11 terrorist attacks. Bush detractors will find this book hilarious; his fans will be apoplectic. Vanessa Bush
