Rove's resignation reminds me of the last minutes of a blowout NBA game

In the final few minutes of a blowout, coaches often pull their players so that the fans can recognize them and give them an ovation.

That's exactly what this reminds me of. This little recognition moment, complete with crying and "you had a great season"-type garbage, makes me want to throw things at the TV.

I think we might see this repeated many times before the end of Bush's term.

So, who's the next "star" to be called to the bench?

It's more like the Barry Bonds moment. There's no doubt there was some type of talent there. But there's also no doubt he cheated and most likely could face court charges. You get the sense he's headed to spend a lot of time with the very few Americans that find him acceptable. Without his gathering of the loyal and protection of office, he's about to find out America is not a very friendly place.
