Does Al Qaeda really want us out of Iraq?

The reason I ask this is that Jim Miklecevski (sp?) on Hardball said that AQ absolutely wants us out of Iraq. That got me to wondering if that's just part of the Kool Aid that's routinely dished out by the WH? Seems to me that there's just as compelling an argument that AQ wants us there. It's been great business for them--both an excellent recruiting tool and training opportunity for use worldwide. OK, maybe they want the instability that would likely follow our departure, but there's certainly no guarantee of that. What Iraq has now is plenty unstable enough, it seems to me. So...are we just being spun that "Al Qaeda wants us out" business? What do you think?

2. Of course not. They LOVE us spending jillions of $, not paying any attention...
... domestically, taking pot-shots at our guys, etc.

Our being in Iraq is a godsend to Al-Qaeda.

3. Though that depends on which AQ you mean they both want us there
the "real" Al Qaeda (the one that's in Pakistan and Afghanistan) probably loves us being there because we're their greatest recruiting tool throughout the Muslim world. I'm not entirely sure that the Iraqi AQ exists except in the fevered imaginations of bush and his sycophantic crew but my guess is that if there is such a thing they probably want us there too because it gives them a visible target.

5. Sorry, tularetom. I missed your post.
You and I had the same reaction, re: which al Qaeda.

Enough of what I hear about "AQ in Iraq/Islamic State of Iraq" leads me to believe they're striving for a piece of the true power in Iraq, and our presence will always be a roadblock to that.

4. I think it depends on whether it's "Al Qaeda" or "Al Qaeda in Iraq"
"Al Qaeda" most definitely doesn't want us to leave.

"Al Qaeda in Iraq" (although they don't call themselves that anymore) probably does want us to leave.

Unfortunately, the media hardly makes a distinction.
