DU lunch today with Cui Bono, Shance and Joe for Clark- Some DUers are amazing!

Just wanted to let you all know that DU has some AMAZING people on it.
Cui Bono, Shance and Joe for Clark and I randomly hooked up on another thread
after the little quake we had several days ago.
We met for lunch today at 1:00 PM and talked ourselves SILLY until nearly 4:00 PM-
The veggie tacos weren't bad either...

Bottom line, we decided to try and meet at least once a month to discuss,
in person, what we discuss on DU- may I highly recommend that you do the same
with DUers in your area?

It was such a relief for all of us to be together- like minded and all.

In the desert of political stupidity that is America- I can't tell
you how refreshed I feel having spent an afternoon with these
amazing folks.

And the weird part is talking about other members and familiar posts. It's kinda strange getting to talk about DU without using your fingers!

Today was exceptional- the only bummer was
that NothingShocksMeAnymore couldn't make it today-
therefore, it has been decided that we DU it again on a
day she can make it.
We also decided that we need to ask the admins to
let her back "on board."
NSMA was one of the BEST DUers in DU history!
I love her, I really do.

My life is richer for the DUers I met today-
really good people, each of them.
BUT, I would never have met them without reaching out.
So GO for it!

And I know how you feel. My wife berates me for not keeping up on Canadian politics.

Yeah, definitely next time I'm in the Big Smoke, we'll get together.

I'm not sure how many DUers there are in Tacoma.

We've had two previous picnics and several restaurant gatherings.

I miss thhe days when the admins listed DU gatherings on the front page.
IMHO, I think we need to suggest that they return to that practice!
In the meantime, we ALL visit GD...heh-heh.

I've been really worried about him. His threads were a scream for help.

I've wondered what would happen if someone posted that they were about to commit suicide.
There is no mechanism in place where we could actually help them.

Glad Joe's ok.

Does he understand his suspension?

I think he just gets drunk and despondent and has no one.

It's sad

He is a brilliant writer actually.
He brought me a copy of his published book, and trust me-
the guy can write.
He has some other stuff going on- but it is not for me to discuss.
He is a great guy and not a drunk at all.
