welcome to my hell...a letter in my paper today
http://thedailylight.com/articles/2007/08/17/dailylight/opinion/letters_to_the_editor/letter4.txt
To the Editor,

The Democratic Party advocates surrender to the enemies of America that murdered more than 3,000 American men, women and children in New York City on Sept. 11, 2001.

The Democratic Party has become the enemy of the United States of America.

Clark Langford,

Waxahachie

(About my best friend's column)

To the Editor,

Since we are all supposed to be more concerned about the environment, I have an idea. Why don’t you save all the newsprint dedicated to your Monday columnist (Nathalie Guyol) and instead just print the Web address for the Democratic Party? That way we can all log on and get today’s talking points for ourselves and maybe save a few trees along the way.

Mike McAdams,

Waxahachie

4. That's pretty typical stuff in the Omaha paper too
My all time favorite letter, and I'm going to have to paraphrase, is as follows:

"ABC shows it's anti-Christian bias once again this Easter, by showing the movie the 'Ten Commandments'. If they wanted to show a real Christian movie, they could have shown 'The Passion of the Christ' or (can't remember the other suggestion) but oh no, we wouldn't want to subject Godless Communist Liberals to Christian values, would we?"

10. Don't you just love it? These whackos are so damn convinced that they
have a direct line to God. They're just too damn ingorant to realize that what they're hearing are the strange voices in their heads that no one else can hear.

I've lived here all my life. When I was young (very very young) it wasn't that bad. I remember my uncle working to get Kennedy elected. I remember Johnson carrying the state. And then it flipped. The Great Society, equal rights for blacks and women. That just sent the crazies into a tizzy and it's been a nasty mean-spirited republican hell hole ever since. See, you don't insist that all people are equal to the angry white men that run this place. And even if you're a member of the democratic party, you don't veer too much from their (the republic party) corporatist, racist, bigoted viewpoint. What you do is put a tiny little suspender wearing corporate attorney in charge and run a guy who's proud of his voting record supporting this administration.

These people also have a very strange picture of the man told them to 'do unto others as you would have done unto you'. Somehow the message got turned into 'do unto others and then split'.

People who are truly progressive liberals tend to get their asses out of here. In fact, I did once. After my Mom passes away, I want to get the hell out again. Everyone else I know and like sure as hell did.

15. I've lived here all my life too

except for one year in Houston a couple years back. I grew up in the 3rd district, sometimes called the most conservative district in the nation. I'm still convinced a populist platform based on jobs, fair trade, energy independence and policies that favor the middle class can be a winner here. We came too close in 2006 to give up now.

After living somewhere else for a year, I just feel like this is where I belong. I can't really see myself moving from Nebraska. I at least want to stay in this region.

19. I was born here. I know how it used to be. Or at least how I thought it was.
I found out after Johnson's Great Society went down the tubes that I was wrong about where I lived and the people I was surrounded by. I didn't know how petty, selfish, mean, and ugly they could be.

The faux elections of that simian monster who's defiling our White House opened my eyes even more.

5. this is a copy of my latest ltte-should be printed Monday-for Monkeyman,as always
It was released today that the suicide rate for the Army has reached A 26-year high. For a mother who's son has served three deployments, was wounded on his second,is drinking himself into his grave, and is looking at his 4th deployment, this is very disturbing news. How can we rationalize sending our troops into war over and over again? How many Americans really sacrifice for this war?Not many,by my calculations. How can you Republicans continue to support this war?How much do you have to lose?Have you seen lately how our Veterans are treated?Like second class citizens.Do you have a problem with how our wounded veterans are treated? Are you OK with our tax dollars funding Private contractors, rather than funding our men on the ground?Shame on you.Support our troops.Bring them home and care for them properly when they come home.Look into Veterans for America..I am proud to be a member. They support homeless vets, vets struggling to get on their feet, and vets who can't find a job.You can find more info here.Help our vets-those who are wounded inside and outside...

7. I willing to bet that there would be crickets chirping
in the flag waving crowd, if they are asked to respond to this, or they will go into contortions to explain it away(especially the suicide rates of soldiers). Denial is a river to the flag wavers.

al-qaeda wot attacked us on 9/11?"

Yes, there are some who do.

These are very stupid people.

Fortunately ignorance can be cured. Just hope they are not simply mind numbingly stupid. Stupidity is not curable.

12. Ignorance can't always be cured..
He who knows not and knows not that he knows not is a fool; avoid him.
He who knows not and knows that he knows not is a student; teach him.
He who knows and knows not that he knows is asleep; wake him.
He who knows and knows that he knows is a wise man; follow him.

16. I almost didn't reply.Here it is...
I almost didn’t reply to the recent letter by Clark Langford, calling the Democrats the “enemies of America”.The more I thought about it,the more I felt compelled to write.I find it oddly amusing that there is anyone left in America with this opinion.Mr. Langford, maybe you should try READING.Now,let’s review:

1.Our Republican government allowed the members of Osama Bin Laden’s family to leave the US in the days following 9/11

2.In the investigations of the 9/11 hijackers,14 of the 18 were from Saudi Arabia. No sanctions were placed on Saudi Arabia.

3.Multiple corporations have profited off the blood of our soldiers, including Halliburton/KBR(Cheney),Lockheed-Martin(Cheney),Exxon/Mobil(Lee Raymond),Chevron(Condi Rice),General Dynamics-among other defense contractors(Rumsfeld),BAE(Prince Bandar),KBR(Joe Albaugh)…and the list goes on.These are known as War Profiteers,Mr. Langford. They are all Republicans.

I could go on,but I won’t.Is it any coincidence,Mr. Langford, that 19 of the 20 Iraq War Vets who ran in 2006 ran as Democrats?I invite you to check out the websites for Veterans For Peace and Veterans for America, and then let’s see who the enemies of America really are.
