The rain has just begun here in Montego Bay as the outer bands of Dean move across the Island.
As we are in the Western Portion of the Island,We are only experiencing only 25mph gust, but the Eastern and Southern Sections are currently experiencing seeing Tropical Storm Conditions.
On nationwide radio, many people are reporting tropical storm conditions.
There are many reports of strong winds lashing St.Thomas, Kingston, Portland and Clarendon and as the day progresses and Dean comes more closer the more conditions will deterioate.
Many persons in the Port Royal area which is very vulnerable are refusing to evacuate, Many said they had seen Gilbert, Charley etc and nothing happened so why leave now. This could be dangerous as stormsturge could be as much as 9ft.
Already, There are reports of 20ft waves battering sections of the south coast.
Our local meterologist Evan Thomspon puts Hurricane Dean now 90 miles ese of Morant Point, Jamaica
(the most easterly point on the island)
He said Hurricane conditions should start affecting Eastern Parishes at 4pm today, and the northern eyewall will brush the most southern sections of the Island.
Frantic News
A frantic situation is now developing.
A report just came in from nationwide radio that 17 persons are stranded on the Middle Keys.(Small low-lying Islands well 89miles south of Jamaica used by fishermen).
The Jamaica Defence Force has advised those fishermen as there is a JDF building on the island to try to break the padlocks off the building to seek safety or climb on the roof.
Our prayers go out to those fishermen as Dean is headed for that area.
Our local radio station is currently streaming live online, even if God forbid Dean should start trcking wnw instead of west and hit us they will continue broadcasting through the storm.

way too much fun (kind of like being on a party boat in the Carribean. ;) )!
This station's online stream is intermittent, probably due to both the hurricane and people attempting to access it.
