Edwards-Clark

Ok, I've decided. What did it? Hearing Edwards talk about Katrina - in my mind, the biggest B* travesty next to the war -- abandoning the New Orleanians, then and now.

He said he would appoint a cabinet level position - and every single day he would call that person in his office and ask, "What have you done in NOLA today" and then again, and again, and again.

That, along with his brilliant and compassionate wife, his care for those less fortunate, his devotion to unions, and committment to health care, won me over.

Threw in Clark since I have idolized him forever and think he would add his brilliance to get us out of what Dick Cheney called a "quagmire" in 1994.

1. I lived in New Orleans
for almost 14 years - moved in 2002. Edwards going down there last year for spring break with a bunch of college students to help clean up and then his announcement to run from there solidified my commitment to his campaign. He really cares about this - and the only one that has still been shining a light on this travesty.

K&R - I'm glad you are on the bus!

3. thanks ! I am looking for someone who has more than just
words to offer - I want someone who will shake things up and make things happen.

NOLA holds a special place in my heart since I got married in Jackson Sq - but a sad space as well. As long as I live I will never forget the look on the faces of those left behind. To wake and have minutes to get up on the roof, to wait. To be swept away in a helicopter, dumped out, to wait. To be hauled off in a bus to a strange town, to wait. To be left in a FEMA trailer, to wait.

I am glad you have done ok.

6. Thank you - my family here
is fine - we have a few friends down there that are struggling to pull it together but they are doing better. You were married in Jackson Square? That must have been amazing - we married in my husband's parish church in Metairie. I have many a fond memory of downtown, Cafe De Monde (ohh, to get a good cup of coffee here in NC would be a miracle) to brunch at Commander's Palace and a few Mardi Gras' that I probably should forget!

It still amazes me to hear the reaction/response to those that didn't leave - okay, you live in the city with decent public transportation so why have the expense of a car that can't be afforded anyway to not having a place to go if evacuated - I'm just amazed that so many did get out. New Orleans is a national treasure, anyone that has been knows that the culture and love of life is worth saving. I'm just thankful that we have Edwards to keep New Orleans and the Gulf Coast in the dialog.
