Ken Blackwell's son will be a HELLUVA lawyer...
http://www.dailycourt.com/articles.php/2432/

Pretty funny stuff about Ken Blackwell's son's Ohio Supreme Court challenge of his failed attempts to pass the bar despite being (evidently and allegedly, of course) a pretty major fuck-up. My favorite bit from the story:

"He also failed to disclose that on the very day his application was being mailed to the court he was in jail in Colorado and charged with four traffic violations." (driving without a valid driver's license, operating an uninsured vehicle, operating an unregistered vehicle and driving with an expired temporary permit)

Of course, he's expecting the usual "preferential treatment" afforded the sons of the rich and powerful, and seems to be crying foul that he's been treated like everyone else.

a mistake...an oversight. But NOT ALL OF THEM!!! Sounds like father like son to me!

3. What was the phrase Clarence Thomas...
Edited on Mon Aug-20-07 11:00 AM by Mr_Jefferson_24
used to describe his interrogation? -- "A high tech lynching?" Play the race card, Rahshann, it worked for Clarence.

5. I'm surprised they even let him sit for the exam.
Candor is the most crucial element of the bar application. They always tell bar applicants that no matter how bad something is, it's worse if one fails to disclose it. His omissions would have given substantial cause to question his "character and fitness."

6. Wow! Mr. Blackwell needs to try a different line of work.
Practicing law means complying with innumerable tricky rules. This guy will never make it.

I worked with a lawyer (also a Republican) who just could not get the knack of following rules. Pulling such a person out of one bad mess after another is an exhausting job. This guy is probably just enough of a sociopath to push his way into the bar. I promise you he will be addicted to something within three years (to medicate himself) and ultimately make a deal with the Bar to leave the profession. He should just go into another line of work now. It would save himself a lot of time and his family a lot of pain.

8. Won't be pushing his way onto the bar after lying on the application.
State bars will admit people who have been convicted of murder - my father went to law school here with one - but you damn well better not lie about what you've been convicted of, or even charged with, even if it was dismissed or expunged.
