So is Wes Clark going to run in 08 or not????
He seems like he would be a formidable opponent to anyone (Democrat Or Skidmark) currently running.

1. I think he's waiting
for Al Gore to decide what he's going to do...

Wes would be great.....I'm a "Clarkie" from way back....

2. I wish he would...
but I kind of doubt it.

He is, I think, one of the very few who would make a difference as a VP candidate. He could be a difference maker in several states.

4. None Of The Above
It's too bad that we are likely to get stuck with the current crop of candidates.

Sure, there are some bright spots like Kucinich or Edwards, but honestly, the only person who is going to be GIVEN the candidacy, is Hillary.

I'm not even sure I will vote next year. I think without someone like Gore or Clark, we're pretty well Fucked for the next few years. Of course I don't want Giulliani, but I think Hillary pretty much Sucks as well, only less so.

6. She's not going to be GIVEN anything if the majority of the Dem base
don't vote for her. If she is the nominee, it's our fault.

21. Majority Of The Dem Base???
What makes you think the "base" controls Jack Shit?

The people at the top are STILL controlling how things go. Why do you think almost Every poll puts Hillary at the top? Coincidence? THERE IS NO FUCKING COINCIDENCE!

"THEY" want her there. "THEY" will GIVE her the nomination. The only question is whether "THEY" will give her the Presidency as well.

Politics is pure and utter BULLSHIT. Which is why people like Al Gore, Wes Clark, or Russ Feingold, are not in the race. They know the score. They know the system is rigged.

If you don't think the system is STILL RIGGED, you haven't been paying attention the last 7 years.

22. Is that like Rove having "the math" in the 2006 elections. I'm sure cheating
goes on in Dem primaries. My point was, if we turn out en masse and vote for someone other than Hillary, she will not win. If sheep hear Hillary is winning in the polls (of some people whoever they are) and then vote for Hillary just because of that, then we as a party get what we deserve.

5. At this point, I doubt it.
I realize he has the book coming out soon, and the idea is that he'll use that to generate some media and then announce a campaign, but the fact of the matter is that the process has generally passed him by. The biggest problem for Clark is Al Gore -- with so many activists wanting Gore in the race, there's very little push behind a "draft Clark" movement, as there was in the 2004 campaign.

If Al Gore definitively rules out a run, and hasn't jumped in by late September, and if the Democratic field has narrowed by a couple candidates by then, and if he can get the media talking about him with his book release, and if the polls give him a reasonable chance of winning, then maybe he'll jump in. But that's a crapload of "ifs," and I don't think Clark will get into another presidential campaign unless he seriously believes he can win.

7. Regrettably, no
If he was going to, he'd have to have boots on the ground now to establish his organization and build his coffers.

Gore can afford to wait, both financially and politically.

I would love to see a Gore-Clark ticket.

8. I don't think so
Clark has been doing a lot of work for Democrats and never seems to sleep but I think many of those with the money and political clout have signed onto other campaigns. And I get the sense that his wife isn't that excited about him running again.

I read somewhere, and sorry, I can't remember where, that he's pretty much ruled out seeking an elected office. I could see him taking a Cabinet position if it's offered. Any Democratic president would be follish not to have Clark do something of significance in the next administration.

9. Not a chance
I like the General and would support him, but he is too closely connected to the Clinton's I'm afraid. I'm sure he has been wooed and guaranteed a position in a Clinton cabinet if he won't run.

I do think it is getting late to declare anyway.

13. I don't think he would do that actually
It wasn't as if he was a surrogate for them and his position wasn't exactly owed to Bill and when Clark was pushed out for going over the head of his boss to get the US involved in Kosovo the Clintons didn't lift a finger to stop it.

16. True, but there is a strong connection
friendship-wise. I'm betting that there have been talks between Clark and the Clinton team. I just don't see him jumping in because of it.

He'd be my pick, though.

11. I want him to
But last time around by now he was putting out feelers, making alot of noise, and building up his organization. Now it just seems like he's been just too quiet to be jumping in for the top slot. Still, he would be good on the ticket as the VP and great in the cabinet, but as much as I want him to be running, I was on the campaign as the draft movement was really picking up, I doubt he's going to this time he just doesn't seem like he's going to jump in.

It seems more unlikely as we get closer to the Fall, but I can still hope!

14. its awful late
he needs to raise tens of millions of dollars to compete with the top candidates. And get all his organizations in all the states started, that takes months.

Clark isn't going to be a candidate.

18. I'd be excited to see Wes run.
Gore/Clark is very appealing or any nominee with Clark, however, I really think we need his watchful eyes to remain on guard for what's going on at the Pentagon, etc. He's good at calling a spade a spade and to inform us of all the current BS!

really hard for him, too. I worked from home on his 2004 primary campaign.
