Let's evaluate Governor Goodhair's "leadership" (Rethug) in response to crisis (hurricane)

Somebody departed San Antonio enroute to the Lower Rio Grande Valley today. Hurricane Dean is going to hit Yucatan, Mexico, then proceed across the lower Gulf and hit Mexico again, with LOWERED potency in Mexico's underbelly. Yes, I am a psychic.

So this friend was headed Southeast on Hwy 37 and saw a line of what looked like 10-15 school buses and started to pass them. Fine. So then it turned out it was more like 50? or even more of them. It took 2-3 miles to pass this group. O.K., fine. So then there was some clear driving, then ANOTHER group of 50 or MANY MORE. This went on for 200 miles.

O.K., so the dude was skeered of stopping to eat because the HUNDREDS of buses would catch up, but finally, he stopped at a Dairy Queen. The employee got off the phone and announced to the other employees: "Get ready, we're getting A THOUSAND ONE HUNDRED school buses passing by here!1"

Yes, persons, Governor Goodhair ordered a MASSIVE deployment. All right, I know that if a THING happened this might be called for. But what is going to happen is that all of these empty buses are going to travel down, then stay a night or two, then turn around and go back EMPTY.

Some COMMON SENSE would be a good substitute for BLIND KNEEJERK-ISM. Where is KKKarl ROVE's Rethug "VISION"??!1

Yeah-yeah, I know. It's actually a crap shoot. Damned if you do, damned if you don't.

So they spent the entire day yesterday driving down and spent one night and turned around the next day.

The very best light that can be put on this was that somebody set into motion SOMEthing, whether from good faith ir just to cover the ass. Beyond that, this was not a "working smart" decision. There are surely a thousand LOCAL buses, or were the out-of-towners supposed to be a supplement to the local ones?

The bigger problem, setting aside the boondoggle for somebody (overtime, restaurants, motels, port-a-potties, and more), is that THERE IS STILL TIME in the hurricane season for an actual hit somewhere along the Texas coast. Will Governor Goodhair be inclined to do it all over again once he gets criticized for doing it this time?
