Olbermann on Sunday "Countdown" Special: "I advise new viewers to sit well back from their screens."
NBC's press release, via TV Newser:

SECAUCUS, N.J., August 20, 2007 MSNBC's Keith Olbermann will bring his unique take on the day's events, from politics to pop culture, to a primetime network audience this Sunday night. A special edition of "Countdown with Keith Olbermann" will air on Sunday, August 26th at 7 p.m. ET/6 p.m. CT on NBC, leading into the network's "Sunday Night Football" pre-season NFL matchup between the Philadelphia Eagles and the Pittsburgh Steelers, live at 8 p.m. ET. Olbermann is joining the network's "Football Night in America" studio team this season. The special edition of "Countdown" will be broadcast live from MSNBC's studios.

"Countdown's" network debut comes on the heels of the program's stellar performance this year. According to Nielsen Media Research, the program attracted 721,000 viewers in July, up an incredible 88% over July 2006. "Countdown" continues to be the number two cable news program at 8 p.m. ET, beating CNN by a 20% margin for the year.

"I'm delighted we're getting a chance to show off in a bigger storefront window," said Olbermann. "It's much better than trying to take it door-to-door. I do advise new viewers to sit well back from their screens."

Izzy Povich is Executive Producer, "Countdown with Keith Olbermann." Dan Abrams is General Manager, MSNBC. Phil Griffin is Senior Vice President of NBC News and Executive in charge of MSNBC.

1. Oh boyee.
A Football Audience gets to hear a full-on Olbermann rant. I am sure he will have a hum-dinger in the pipe, too.

who do not have MSNBC programmed into their remotes.

Non-rightwing news. Definitely a shock to their systems.

25. Flyers are looking like they might actually be able to win
some games this year! Now that I've got DVR, I'll be able to see all the games and not drive hub crazy anymore. He likes to argue that there are only 16 Eagles games compared to 82 in hockey. He's a schmuck sometimes.

Personally, I hate the taste of beer and hub likes German beer.

On another note - Eagles 24, Steelers 21.

18. Sorry, statistics clearly indicate that Bushler's top demographic is white men
Edited on Tue Aug-21-07 07:12 AM by tom_paine
I am speaking as a White man myself, though I am well aware that because of my Jewishness, neither Loyal Nazis nor Loyal Bushies think I am a White man, at all.

Having said that, the NFL's prime demographic is White men, and thus, it is no statistical wizardry to assert that, for the first time, at least 60% of them (the percentage of White Men who STILL support Der Fuehrer) watching Countdown, will, for the first time in their lives, receive information that isn't State-Controlled or State-Coerced.

For the first time, the most slavish demographic in Imperial Amerika will remember what America was, and what it stood for. For the first time, they will hear something other than RNC Talking Points gussied up as if they are facts. For the first time, they will be free, even for a moment, of the pervasive and just-under-the-surface anti-Democratic attitude that pervades the so-called liberal media.

We all have access to the truth, just how many of us have the time and inclination to dig for it through the mountains of propaganda and disinformation?

No, this is fairly big, that all those Loyal Bushies/Kinder-and-Gentler Nazis and their followers, will for even a short period of time, be free of the propaganda which degrades and attempts to control thought.

In the end, the reachability of the NFL crowd by Pat Tillman was why he could never be allowed to live to return and campaign for Kerry, 95% chance it is so.

40. He will be getting exposed to many people who have
NEVER watched anything but Fauxnews. Yes, he will be reaching many wingnuts that have never heard the truth before.
Access to the truth and the willingness to ferret it out are too wildly different things.

35. yes, but if she's home (and mostly she makes a point of being here)
she refuses to wait until the rerun.

(i'm making her sound horrible--but she's not. i'm the wicked one when it comes to the tv--and it's all news/political shows!)

the nice thing is that we both like the dead zone. so we watch that together.

11. NBC phone lines will be smokin' all next week!
As will their veiwer e-mail in box,
although I deem it doubtful that the outraged complainers will be regular NBC viewers, but FOX-holes instead.

So get ready to show NBC our support.

Who wants to wager that KO/NBC will not be the topic of every right wing radio program all day Monday, or especially Big Head Billo's TPM Monday night after seeing KO on a primetime network program with a viewing audience that may total more than all of his tv cable shows for a single week?

Heads will be exploding before kick-off, but I wouldn't be surprised if Mr. Big Head
attempts a pre-emptive attack on this and NBC "liberal bias" before Sunday.

I can hardly wait!

13. KO needs to hit the WH hard on its failure to comply with Subpoenoes for docs and testimony...
Most people have no clear understanding what the WH has been doing.

KO can move this discussion from the hazy characterization that it is just political differences to the clear reality that we have a WH violating the Constitution every day.

24. They're making a star out of him! They better not steal him away from us.
I can just see him being taken off Countdown and switched over to some lame NBC primetime show - where he will be told to behave himself.

and it would be very hard for him to pass it up because of the money he'd make on the networks vs. cable.
