10. Years Ago...
One (I) was able to get hooked up online to shortwave radios in a hurricane's path, and listen to what was happening. It was frightening, and yet fascinating. The folks broadcasting during the event were totally courageous.

I was hoping to find the same thing at the above mentioned site, but it's just a bunch of pretty faces doing remotes for gobs of newscasts elsewhere.

Course it was funny when the klieg lights almost blew into the pool during one remote, but then they switched to calmer locations.

11. I lived through one as a kid @ Camp Lejeune
totally cool

our family went to dad's office on the base since the house we were renting was no fortress

I spent most of the time glued to the front window looking at trees blowing or looking out the back at our Ford station wagon. Dad had parked it on some sort of loading ramp so it would be under an overhang and sheltered on two sides. Damned thing was rocking like mad. I was secretly hoping it would blow off! I wanted to go outside but they wouldn't let me.
