McCain: "defeat would be a "catastrophe" of "colossal historic proportions."

McCain, an Arizona Republican who has seen his once front-running presidential prospects wane, in part because of his backing of the war, backed down not an inch today.

"Our defeat in Iraq would be a catastrophe not for Iraq, but for the United States," McCain said. "And I cannot be complicit in it."

Saying he understands the frustration of so many Americans, McCain said he, too, had grown weary of all the mistakes civilian and military commanders had made in Iraq, although he did not mention President Bush by name.

"The war in Iraq has not gone well," he said. "The American people have grown sick and tired of it."
----------------------------------

Hell, SUCCESS has been "a catastrophe" of "colossal historic proportions. "How insane will mccain eventually get?

2. John. Page me. We need to talk about your issues emphasis for the campaign.
The Iraq War? Bad.

Bring the troops home? Good.

The surge? Bad.

Diplomatic solutions for a troubled region? Good.

Can you pick up a trend here, John?

John?

John!

Damn, he blanked out AGAIN.

3. Then we are in the midst of...
"a catastrophe" of "colossal historic proportions." The defeat occurred on March 19, 2003, when the United States, led by McCain's "hero" - George Bush - entered into an illegal and unwinnable "war" - a.k.a. the quest for dominion in the Middle East. Fueled by Dick Cheney's unquenchable thirst for wealth and power and violence done by others to others.

6. Unless McCain knows something we don't about the future, it looks to me as
if he found himself on the USS Bush, considered the direction it was sailing, strapped the anvil of The Surge to his person, and jumped into the sea.

Am I missing something?

John, there might just be a connection between your zeal for Bush's war policies and your in-the-crapper poll numbers.

8. It just seems unlikely that he'll ever be in contention again.

As I say, he may know something I don't about the future -- some inside info he's privvy to and we're not.

But at the moment it looks as if he's a has-been and that he just hasn't acknowledged yet that he will not be the next U.S. president.

17. Yes. And their donors have already seen those early checks cashed.
McCain's campaign was described by one columnist as "a bi-plane ablaze, spiralling downward."

Sounds about right to me.

14. Agree. McCain's candidacy was unattractive to some people in the first
place but he made it a certain failure by embracing Bush.

19. So with McCain we would still have endless war...
.... only he'd do endless war better than Bush does! To the very last drop of blood, and beyond!!

John, it's no doubt why your campaign has all the traction of a tricycle up to its handlebars in sand. You have never been able to deal with your nightmare in Vietnam and it has really messed up your mind. Be kind to yourself and get some help. Seriously.

21. "Our defeat in Iraq would be a catastrophe not for Iraq, but for the United States," McCain said.
Ok now wait a minute, am I missing something here? Does that mean that if we are defeated in Iraq, Iraq will be better off? I thought this war was all about making Iraqi a free, stable and peace loving democracy, so how is it that they will be better off when the American military leaves?

:wtf:

And as far as the catastrophes facing the United States, we need not look any farther than the cause and effect created by the psychopaths and morons in charge of the American government and military. That’s right, the one’s that led us down this path too war and road too hell…

23. Yeah, John, right up there with losing WW2 or the Civil War
Another thing "(t)he American people have grown sick and tired of" is hyperbolic rhetoric completely disconnected from reality.

The only "catastrophe" of "colossal historic proportions" involved in this Iraq war and occupation was launching it.
