Bush Administration Has Been Using Illegal Wiretapping and Spying Activity for Political Purposes.
A BUZZFLASH EDITORIAL

In an under covered trial in a California courtroom, a Constitutional drama of major significance is unfolding.

It is a federal lawsuit filed by Americans who claim that the Bush Administration, with the cooperation of AT&T, illegally spied on them. The Bush Administration has taken the Orwellian position that the trial must not be allowed to proceed because it would require the White House to reveal if they indeed have illegally monitored the plaintiffs – and that, the Bush Politburo argues, would violate "state secrets."

Why do we sometimes think that we are living in the Soviet-era, Stasi run East Germany?

Maybe that’s because a headline last week read, "US moves to use spy satellites for domestic surveillance."

Or maybe, returning to the trial in California, that the White House refused to sign a document assuring the court that their "eavesdropping" was not being used domestically under the guise of claiming it was being used to stop terrorism...

1. When Hillary gets in I want her to use these powers
to the fullest to keep track of right-wingers, to the limit of and well beyond the limit of, the law.

The only thing these people understand; the only thing they ever understand; ever, is when something is done to them.

I want progressive administrations to keep surveillance on the right-wing threat to America. The fascist danger to America should replace the communist threat to America that all levels of law enforcement have gone outside the bounds of Constitutional stricture to attack throughout the last century. CIA overthrowing leftist governments should begin overthrowing rightist governments, elected or not. FBI spying and dossiering leftists should spy on and violate Constitutional and privacy rights of rightists. Etc etc etc.

I know I know: two wrongs don't make a right. I say do unto others, if you want to get biblical. And if you don't I say just get in the gutter with the filth and destroy it.

The anti-government forces of the right should be seen as the gravest threat to America and they should be destroyed by fair means and foul. The law, and even the Constitution, has proven little more than a speed bump to the right over decades and decades and decades and decades of ideologically politicized law enforcement and international policy.

I think the misuse of power should finally be put to good use. The CIA and FBI should be bugging right-wing terror cells wherever they are, from Grover Norquist's meetings to RNC headquarters. For the safety of the American way of life.

3. I demand that any Dem president IMMEDIATELY roll back the unitary executive power grabs of bushco &
open up the files of what they did, who they spied on illegally, destroy all the records and dismantle not only the databases but the infrastructure of spying on Americans.

I prefer to live in a democratic country, flawed tho it might be - WITH ALL CHECKS AND BALANCES IN PLACE AND WORKING.

Not under a government run outside the law under a veil of secrecy - regardless of whether it is a Dem or Repuke at the head.

2. Meh...
A BUZZFLASH EDITORIAL, the operative words, and truth in advertising.
Mark Karlin asks,"Why do we sometimes think that we are living in the Soviet-era, Stasi run East Germany?"?
I don't know about Mr. Karlin, but I actually saw the Stasi-run DDR first hand during 1979, and contemporary America 2007 bears 0 resemblance. Such a statement as 'America is like the DDR' tends to deflate credibility with the reader, because it reads as so much overwrought hyperbole, perhaps from being thoroughly informed.
I read the article linked in the OP, but am still unclear what an "under covered trial" entails.
The case mentioned may be entirely with merit, but the article cited doesn't present any facts pertaining to it, or even which bench is hearing it.
It's a serious impeachable charge, I was hoping for more from the teaser!
