PlLEASE sign this petition for Lionsgate to distribute Pilger's new film in the US

It seems to me that DUers who are thinking carefully about the illegal immigration issue would like to be as well informed as possible. We are concerned about the consequences of illegal immigration from Latin America -- for many reasons.

There is an award-winning filmmaker who has made a documentary about how the US government (read, corporate interests) have interfered with democracy in Latin America -- with the result that millions of people have had to head North to survive.

John Pilger's new film "The War on Democracy" is NOT scheduled to be released here -- here, where we need the information the most as we try to solve the problem of illegal immigration. It's already out in the UK and in Australia. But, there are today NO PLANS to release it here.

Please sign my petition to get Lionsgate to release this film here.

We, the undersigned, demand that the citizens of the United States be allowed to see John Pilger's new film, "The War on Democracy", a work which details the consequences of US interference in emerging democracies in Latin America.

Our nation is embroiled in a heated debate about illegal immigration. This film could inform that debate in a way that the corporate media never will.

Mr. Pilger's film must be made available to the American public. We ask that Lionsgate Films distribute this work in the United States.

This is not a petition in favor of illegal immigration. This is a petition to a film distributor to make John Pilger's work available to the American public so they can see for themselves why there is such a large migration north and so they can come to their own conclusions.

I can't see them allowing such an inflammatory movie to hit the theaters. People get mad here when I tell them we have to stop interfering in their political processes. People would rather have their heads in the sand then look at the real reason illegal immigration is such a problem.

in this or in another venue. There is more than one possibility for distribution here. This petition could help even LinkTV take a chance on airing the film here. But the first move is to ask Lionsgate, the UK distributors, imho.

And Mr. Pilger probably gets zip when we watch it that way -- is that right?

His work has been so censored in this country that he received an Emmy for one film that was only shown in NYC in the middle of the night. :shrug:

but as you said, the primary concern is the information - and the YouTube videos are one way the DUers who sign your petition can get it.
