The Democratic Party should Sue the DLC for using the Democratic name
Edited on Tue Aug-21-07 03:18 PM by berni_mccoy
I just read another post here that quotes the DLC as saying that war critics are anti-American. WTF!?!?!

It's time to strip this organization of the right to call themselves Democratic.

The DLC is anything but.

And they certainly aren't even "American" if they are going to call the vast majority of Americans UN-American.

2. How is banning or stripping someone from using a word
in itself democratic.

My irony meter is going off.

6. They are misusing a name. If someone used the Nike name to sell crappy sneakers
Don't you think they'd sue?

3. I do think they need to get out of our tent
They claim we anti-war loonies are the fringe. Those morons are the vocal minority of our party!

5. How many of these guys are DLC?
Seems that their views were bought and paid for, and the exact opposite of what they campaigned on.

7. They can't strip anyone of anything
This isn't some third world anti-Democratic country where political parties can jerk organizations around. As for what else you said, I've heard no one from the DLC say any such thing.

8. Any organization can sue any other organization for misusing their brands
Period. You create an organization, give it a name, you have a right to defend the use of that name.

Here's the article: http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=view_all&address=389x1632185

10. Well, in this case, I don't think that applies
The DLC is a separate organization that only makes arguments about what direction the Democratic Party goes in. Since the word "Democratic" isn't a brand and is used by several organizations, there isn't grounds to sue.

9. Also, almost every single Democrat on MSM has been a DLC/Blue Dog
When MSM needs a Democratic "expert" they always go to the DLC/Blue Dogs and the public gets the rightwing viewpoint of the Democratic party.

No wonder people have a problem telling the parties apart.

11. I'm glad you pointed that out
MSM has been using DLCers/Blue Dogs for years to push the neocon agenda.
