51% of US think military should have stayed out of Iraq
Edited on Tue Aug-21-07 03:26 PM by OzarkDem
CBS news poll Aug 8-12

http://www.pollingreport.com/iraq.htm

69% of US adults disapprove of Bush's handling of Iraq

46% think our involvement there is creating more terrorism

Can someone remind me why Dem leaders are afraid to take a stand against Bush's Iraq policy?

1. Incredible numbers despite
the right wing hate and disinformation machine which cranks out lies 24/7/365. Imagine if the lemmings suddenly became independent thinking intellectually curious beings.

5. You are so right on. Remember when they were loving the "shock and awe"
or when wonder boy put on an air suit

51% is pathetic after everything we have been through

As bad as it is to say, we are getting exactly what we deserve

Sure, most of us here at DU were well aware what was happening, but the same cannot be said of many of our representatives in Congress

They enabled this insanity. From the destruction of the War Powers Act, to the approval of the Patriot Act, very little courage to do the right thing was shown

I wonder how many people who voted for bush, or didn't even bother to vote, have lost their jobs or houses. That would be an interesting statistic

We will be paying the price for this for a long time. I just hope our children won't

3. The numbers are trending the wrong way
We've gone from 35% thinking it was right, up to 43%.
We've gone from 61% thinking we should have stayed out, down to 51%, a bare majority.

They're winning the Iraq debate again - which is why Hillary has gone scurrying for cover.

7. May to August
As it pertains to the surge, that's enough for a number of Democrats to think they need to shift back to the middle in case we suddenly "win the war".

8. I'm sure its enough for our elected leaders to
draw conclusions from, but I can't tell what's a blip and what's a trend with 4 data points.

4. disturbing that only 69% disapprove. Are the other 30% idiots or just partisan hacks?

11. Bet they just say so because we're losing now.
Bet they don't actually think it was wrong to bomb the shit out of everything. This is a society in which the embarassment of politicians is considered more of a tragedy than the destruction of human lives. :grr:
