I swear,...I could NOT post on DU for the last few days. I'd get shut down.

I've tried to figure, the novice that I am, why.

I don't know why.

I am an experimental novice. Tell me what to do.

Dissconnect from the net, do a virus scan, an adware scan, clean up anything the tools find, reboot, and reconnect.

If the problem persists, we won't know because you won't be able to post to DU.

Seriously, google "appcombat" and you will see lots of other complaints just like yours from virus or adware victims.

I've tried to post to DU several times over the last three days and only got one responsive post in (that I know of).

I have been PROHIBITED from DU, for days. I can't explain why.

Maybe you had some weird computer thing happen because of one of the ads.

it lasts about 20 to 30 minutes, then all is fine. I don't know if it's the admins doing scheduled maintenance or if it's my ISP or what, although I don't have problems with any other site at that time.... but it happens every day...

Anyone else have this problem?

I thought it was my server playing around or something. Though when I called them they didn't think there were problems in the system. Did you note post #29? I have never checked the things they talk about, but then I have a Mac and it is my understanding I shouldn't need to. (Hey, correct me if I'm wrong...any internet guru available.)

And here is a note I get all the time:
Could not open the page “http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php” because the server “www.democraticunderground.com” could not be found.

But if I try to access the page a second or third time it will open. Lots of times pages don't open for me, especially if I click on links in an e-mail. But sometimes when clicking on a link on a page. The above note came up when I clicked 'post message' to try and post this the first time. I'll try again.

I do daily virus and spyware scans... just out of old habit, even though I don't visit very many other sites than DU. I just started checking out craigslist in the last couple days. Their forums suck, but there's some funny ads on there....
