More women should be making porn...
I'm talking producing and directing. Just sayin' since it's mostly the men doing the making of porn.

1. Male and female sexuality are different......
Completely different. If you pick up books on sexuality and studies on sexuality, that's precisely what you find, that males and females are not only constructed differently, but that they function differently, have different sexual needs, are attracted even at different times of the day, have different frequencies of need, are aroused in a different manner, etc. etc. ad infinitum. That's why it's usually the males creating porn. Doesn't mean women don't want men, or that men don't want women, but everything else is quite different.

It's a frikkin' wonder we females ever get together with males instead of developing a perfect android that functions the way we women need a man to. :-)

3. There are completely sensible evolutionary reasons why men would be wired more visually
and women would be wired to see sex and emotional intimacy as always intertwined indistinguishable.

That's not to say all men, all women, etc. etc. But overall, it seems to work out that way a lot.

Edited on Tue Aug-21-07 06:19 PM by BlooInBloo
... Because if it were true, then there wouldn't be anything wrong with having one opinion about 15yo boy/female teacher and different opinion about 15yo girl/male teacher.

EDIT: And all DUers know that your a sexist sadistic pedophile to so much as SUGGEST that it's ok to have different views about the two situations.

how much of that is nature and how much is culturally induced? Remember that any natural tendencies women might have are suppressed and warped from day one

31. You're absolutely right.
There might be a strong cultural component. The way we're raised and the experiences we have are important. The first guy I was ever with had this "thing" for submissive women, and he wanted me to be that way, so I tried to imitate that for a while. Guess it must've worked, as he didn't complain too much. However, eventually that grew really tiring on me. As time passed and I read, experienced, and got to know life, I realized I was no more submissive than a hurricane was peaceful. When I said, "it's going to be my way or the highway from now on," that guy and I parted ways. He told me I'd been betraying him all that time. Not really! I just didn't know any better than to be who I really am.

39. Have you ever stopped to consider who writes the books and studies and pseudo-science
articles?

Just sayin'.

We, as a culture, love to work backwards from our assumptions and find reasons. There's a lot of crap pseudoscience out there about gender roles and differences - more than there is good solid science.

7. Oh, there are plenty of women making porn...
In the LITERARY world. Check out Ellora's Cave's line of "Romantica" and the lines of erotic fiction currently taking the publishing world by storm.

It's simply a different form of porn. But porn nonethless.

21. I can recommend some authors
if anyone's interested.

I am a romance author. I don't write romantic erotica, but there's some very talented women doing so.

I might also add that Candida Royalle's movies are appealing to women because a) they have a plot, and b) the women featured in her films are more -- shall we say, realistic?

10. They probably should.
However, the porno industry is not run by what we might call legitimate businessmen. It's run by organized crime for the most part which is almost universally male. There are a few female directors out there though.

14. women producers/directors
Check out (NotSafeForWork) --> www.blowfish.com (disclaimer - once upon a time, many years ago, I knew a few of the folks (both men and women) that started this outstanding on-line erotica outlet. I think that they are still there). They write mini-reviews and have commentary about most of their products.

I seem to recall quite a few of the videos that they had were by women. Indeed, that was usually something that they highlighted.

I'm basically agreeing with your subject and pointing out that it is not unheard of now.

Not that I ever buy anything there.

I just go there for the reviews.

15. The most offensive porn I've ever seen was directed by a woman.
Brutal rape scenes, total humiliation, the works.I couldn't sit through it,and I watched the movie Sick: The Life and Death of Bob Flanagan,Supermasochist three times. :)

There was a story on one the Dateline type shows about it,and the reporter and camera crew had to leave the filming of it because it was too much and too real.

25. Turns out it was Frontline
At issue is whether a porn producer called Extreme Associates has the First Amendment right to sell videos featuring urination, simulated rape and adults depicted as minors, among other things. Extreme Associates is perhaps best known for the porn movie Forced Entry, which simulates a rape so violently that a camera crew for the PBS documentary series Frontline became disgusted and fled while filming the production.

28. They do and it's called romance novels
Typical of male domination that they expect us to just accept that they want.

But women want it to be about romance, and they have a say, too. This is inconvenient for men and makes it harder for them, and they keep trying to tell us we can't have it. It is so subconscious for them that they don't even realize they are doing it. They just call it "nature" or whatever, completely oblivious to the fact that women have minds of their own and that women might consider what they want to count.

(Keeping in mind this is a broad brush - used to make a point).

There's also those pesky side-effects of sex, like
