We are making progress in Iraq
Next time the neo-cons want to invade another enemy, remember, a stable, pro-west, secular, democratic is not a couple years away. Stability in overthrown country is decades away. Invading Iran will be a lifelong commitment, maybe longer. Just like Iraq.

We are making improvement in Iraq. We are closer to a stable, pro-west, secular, democratic Iraq since the surge. We need more troops to make "victory" a reality. We are making progress, but we got another 50 years of hard work and occupation to go before we can really declare mission accomplished.

I opposed the Iraq war because I knew that a stable, pro-west, secular, democratic Iraq was at least 50 hard years away. Anyone that thought this war would be done in six months or six years is wrong. HRC thought the war would be over by 2009. HRC was wrong in this assumption and she was wrong to advocate for the invasion. At least Edwards has regretted his mistake.

If we need to go to combat to protect ourselves, then bring it on! Otherwise, let peace and diplomacy lead the way. The peace movement best get to the streets cause we are on our way into Iran, unless we change course fast.

1. Even if you are off by, say, 2/3, it's STILL 17 years !!!!!!

I'm disturbed by the fact that HC was apparently seduced by all of the special attention Bush Inc. probably poured over her before the IWR. They played to her weakness, ambition, and pegged it.

If she has learned the lesson well enough to change, she could still make a decent president, but she can't/won't give us any sign of that change, so we're supposed to just go on trust, something in pretty short supply these days for very concrete reasons.

2. "Trust is a hard thing to come by these days. If I were you, I'd... trust in the Lord." - MacReady

4. Sounds like abdication of personal responsibility to me.

Trusting in "the Lord" is what got us into this mess.

5. You'd have to see the movie, it's a wry, sarcastic comment on the situation.

6. I'll do that if I get an opportunity.
I've got to say this; thanks for remaining civil with my ignorance, there's been quite a bit of bitchy stuff happening on the board.

8. Been away a bit lately, because I got a good job - Finally!
I remain convinced, nonetheless, of the power of blog-warriors. Love the DU! but I'm thinking about adopting a more local blog, to "get under the radar" so-to-speak and support the culture change.
